Pulau Ubin Jetty is where you alight and depart Ubin. For departure, just wait at the jetty and the 12 passengers rule will apply. You will have to wait for enough passengers before you can depart. Else pay the bumboat captain the balance of the $24 and you would have immediate departure. Leave a Comment Theme: Ship/Boat

Pulau Ubin is accessible by Changi Point Ferry Terminal. Take the bumboat from Changi Jetty, which is near the Changi Village Hawker Centre. The bumboats will take you to Ubin Jetty at a cost of $2 per trip. Maximum of 12 pax per bumboat. Join the queue and the bumboat will leave when they have 12 pax. If there are less than 12 pax, you might have to wait a little while until enough people turn up. Or you can pay for 12 pax for express service. Leave a Comment

Unless you want to walk around the island as I did, your only other option is to see the island by bicycle. You can bring your own bicycle with you on the bumboat from Singapore, or you can hire one cheaply for the day from one of the numerous bicycle hire shops in the square in the main village. A number of bicycle hire shops were advertising bicycles for hire from just S$3 per day. The further you get from the jetty, the lower the hire charge becomes - but all of the shops are cheap and the prices don't differ greatly. If you've not ridden a bicycle for some time (apparently you never forget how to do it!), the main square in the village is ideal for a bit of practice before setting out to explore the island. Alternatively, there is a small car park near the meeting point close to the jetty where you can practice and ensure that there are no faults with the bike. Leave a Comment Theme: Bicycle

To get to Pulau Ubin from Singapore, you will need to take a bumboat from Changi Point ferry terminal. The bumboats leave frequently throughout the day, leaving once there are 12 passengers waiting. In practice, you could be waiting from 5 minutes to 30 minutes for the required number of passengers to turn up - I waited about 20 minutes. The crossing takes only 10 minutes and costs just S$2 (0.75 GBP) each way. Simply pay the driver once on board. To get from the centre of Singapore to Changi Point ferry terminal (at Changi Village), I opted to take a taxi. The journey took about 25 minutes and cost S$14.80. Alternatively, it is possible to catch bus #2 to Changi Village, but I'm not sure where in Singapore you would need to catch it. It is not possible (as at December 2005) to get all the way to Changi Village by the MRT. For the return journey, go and wait at the end of the jetty near the main village in Pulau Ubin. Again, you'll have to wait until there are 12 passengers. I was fortunate as the required number of passengers arrived within 5 minutes of me getting to the jetty. Returning to Singapore, you will pass through a security check and your baggage will be scanned at the arrival point. Leave a Comment Theme: Ship/Boat

Changi Point Ferry Terminal is located beside the famous Changi Hawker Centre. Just oppsite the ferry terminal is the colourful Changi Meridien Hotel. There is a car park where you can park for $1 an hour. The Bus terminal is also around the corner. Head downstairs to take the bum boat from the ferry terminal direct to Pulau Ubin. There is roof top cafe located on top where u can catch the planes making their landing at Changi Airport. Leave a Comment Theme: Ship/Boat

Do not panic when you reach the Changi Point Ferry Terminal. Proceed downstairs and on your right you will see some benches and that is where you need to wait for 12 Passengers before the bumboat can depart for Pulau Ubin. No purchase of ticket is needed beforehand. Just pay to the bumboat captain when he ask for payment before he set sail. The other counter is for travelling to Pengerang (Malaysia). The registered motor vehicle on Pulau Ubin starts with PU and has a green licence plate. You can hire "taxi" to tour around the island. Be sure to bargain a price before you start your journey. The driver will share with you history of Ubin and bring you to places that you may not come across. They may even invite you to their house on the island. Most of them uses the white van as "taxi" on the island. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

For now , the only way to get to Pulau Ubin is by taking a bumboat from Changi Jetty which is just by the water's edge from the Changi Village Hawker Centre. Unless you're a bat, it's pretty hard to miss but here's a location map just in case. It cost just S$2/person to take a bumboat to Ubin Jetty. S$1 if you're a bald monk in saffron robes ( there's a thai-buddhist temple in ubin ) so you know what to do if you're keen to save on $. In any case, just join the queue at the jetty and the boats will leave when they have a maximum of 10-12 passengers. Leave a Comment
