The boat to Ubin cost S$2 each way. No need to buy the tix in advance, the boatman will collect from you on the boat.
The boat will only take 12 passengers plus 2 crews. But sometimes they will take 13 passenger because the boatman is always alone.

Take MRT to Tanah Merah station, change to bus #2 and alight at the last station at Cangi Jetty.
Alternatively, take MRT to Tampines station, change to bus #29 and alight at the same place as #2.
After you alight, the jetty is on your left hand side. For the time I am writing this there is some construction blocking the Jetty, so you need to head left and walk for 1 or 2 minutes. There you can see the jetty.

it's pretty nice to do cycling around ubin. the rental will give you a pretty simple map and you just follow the directions. cut or skip the route if you feel exhausted :) in total, without any stop, you can make a loop at ubin about 3 hours.

the funny thing i'd got as experience when the owner of bike rental gives me a map. said there's as "if you're lost dadeedadeeda, don't get panic, since christopher columbus ... blah blah blah ..." mon dieu .... compared to world explorer? hihihihi.
but really, the map is simple and you just follows those direction, skip several points whenever exhausted. without any stop, you can make a loop of pulau ubin within 3 hours!

I've just found out that a group of nature lovers cum good samaritans have launched a free nature-cum-heritage guided trail on Pulau Ubin. Since I don't know much about the tour yet, I'll give you a review when I've joined them for the next tour.
In the meantime, I'll leave behind their webpage addy so that you can check their next schedule.Tour last roughly for four hours.
Even if a tour is unavailable, you can always rent a bike from the many bike kiosks on the island. A bike cost about S$4-$6 for the whole day. Quite a steal for so much fun.

For now , the only way to get to Pulau Ubin is by taking a bumboat from Changi Jetty which is just by the water's edge from the Changi Village Hawker Centre. Unless you're a bat, it's pretty hard to miss but here's a location map just in case.
It cost just S$2/person to take a bumboat to Ubin Jetty. S$1 if you're a bald monk in saffron robes ( there's a thai-buddhist temple in ubin ) so you know what to do if you're keen to save on $.
In any case, just join the queue at the jetty and the boats will leave when they have a maximum of 10-12 passengers.

The only bike rental shops are those located near the jetty. A piece of advice, shops located further from the jetty usually charge less, and offer discounts for large groups if you bargain.
Adjust your bike (get help) on the spot before you ride further into the island. Sometimes you need to queue up to get served but it pays to wait. Affix a basket, usually free of charge. Tracks can be hilly and bumpy it is important that you sit comfortably and that brakes work well. Don't assume you can get it fixed during your biking journey because you are unlikely to get help then.

Take a van from Ubin jetty - walk to the inland end of Ubin jetty, to the road, and look for vans and land rovers. They will all have "PU" license plates these days! On weekends, there are usually ample drivers. Just tell the driver "Chek Jawa" and he will do the rest. Again, they might wait for enough people to fill the van. Cost : $2 per person per trip to Chek Jawa.

Take a bumboat from Changi Jetty - the jetty is near the Changi Village Hawker Centre. The bumboats will take you to Ubin Jetty. Cost : $2 per person per trip. Maximum 12 passengers. Just join the queue and the boats will leave when they have 12 persons. If there are less than 12 persons, you might have to wait a little while until enough people turn up.
