LingZhi: Delicious Vegetarian Fondue

by bpacker

Mention 'steamboat' to any Singaporean and you'll see the poor sod's eyes light up in a minute. For the local, there is nothing more heavenly that eating fresh meat, seafood from a steaming hot fondue. So what could be better if the selection consists entirely of healthy mushrooms? The result is delicious.. The next time you want to eat a healthy , delicious fondue consisting of mushrooms, head for the famous Lingzhi restaurant at Far East Square. For S$22++, you get a delicious buffet of unusual mushrooms and a delicious vegetable-based broth to prepare them in. My experience there was so good that I expected the same thing I popped into the "mushroom pot " restaurant at Stadium Walk. Alas, that place was a stinker. Not only was it more expensive ($25++ for a fixed selection) , the selection of mushrooms were paltry and the selection contained more meat than anything else. Bleah. I'd...

Bengawan Solo Cake Shop

by victorwkf

The Bengawan Solo Cake Shop is a very famous cake shop in Singapore with many retail outlets all over the island. The speciality of this cake shop is the local cakes and kuehs which come in all shapes and colours. The price is reasonable and you should really try the local delights if you happen to pass by this cake shop.

The Garlic Restaurant: For the Love of Garlic

by bpacker

The moment I think of the GARLIC, I recall a funny incident which actually happened to my hubby's Korean counterparts... Now, those kimchi loving souls were half-starved to death in Paris. Everything in the gastronomic capital of the world tasted bad, bad, bad to them! They were in need of food, real food. Kimchi, Galbi, Samgye tang, even a tube of Gochujang(chilli paste) would taste like manna to them now. So, it was nothing short of a miracle when they found a Korean eatery in Paris! God had saved them. They eagerly ordered Galbi (BBQ pork) and ate bulbs after bulbs of whole, raw garlic with much relish to make up for the days of suffering. Satiated, they burped and made their way to the airport. Now, as they made their way there, the garlic stirred, boiled and fermented in their stomachs So it was little surprise that when they reached the airport, they were a walking olfactory...

The Line: NEW restaurant. Not to be missed! Asian variety!

by vyxxyn

RESERVATIONS IS A MUST!Usually 1 week in advance for weekend dining. About S$50 per person for lunch 12-2.30pm.This restaurant replaced "Coffee Garden", has been refurbished and is indeed a modern buffet.High class version of Newton Hawker Centre. All you can eat buffet with large variety of deserts. International main course dishes are mainly Asian fare comprising Dim Sum, rare Indian curries, Thai curries, fresh seafood, Japanese sushi and temaki, Indonesian dishes, Malay food, and some East-meets-West fusion. Also has a pasta corner, where al dente pasta is cooked while you wait. The main feature is the chocolate fondue. Dip strawberries and cheese biscuits or anything you want covered in choc into the chocolate fountain. Yum yum all around! Dim sum never tasted THIS good! To be frank, everything here is nice! Would advise you to starve yourself a whole day before dining. Save half...

The Cliff: Vying for title of most expensive restaurant in SG

by Rodan44

So the boss has agreed to let you host a lavish company dinner in Singapore paid for entirely by the company. You can choose from any restaurant in town. Where do you go? Well, if your criteria is solely that you want to spend as much of the company's money as possible, then you should pick The Cliff at Sentosa Resort and Spa. Places don't get much more expensive than this in Singapore. You will easily drop SG$300 per person without even trying, and that's with mid-range wine!Anyway, I hosted a company holiday party here last December for 6 people (ok so it's a small company). The setting is gorgeous, as is the restaurant itself. Open-air overlooking the sea south of Sentosa Island. The restuarant specializes in fresh seafood, and that is really all they serve. The preparation is French eclectic. Great international wine list as well. Oh yeah, and did I mention that it is really...

Pine Court Chinese Restaurant: Peking Duck with a View

by Rodan44

I hosted a Chinese New Year dinner here for my company. The restaurant is located on one of the top floors of the Meritus Mandarin Hotel and offers great views of Orchard Road and vicinity. It has a very old-world Chinese ambiance and the menu packs all the classic high-end Chinese dishes, such as abalone, bird's nest, shark's fin, and my personal favorite, Peking Duck.Overall a very good restaurant. Price is reasonable considering the extensive menu and great location. Service was attentive. All dishes were tasty and prepared well. The meal started with a traditional tossing of the Yu Sheng salad, a way of wishing everyone prosperity in the coming year. Then we all had one of their set meals, which featured a good selection of mainly seafood dishes. The real treat however came when we added on a whole Peking Duck. The duck was carved table side and was absolutely delicious! The crispy...

Ichibantei Ramen: Highly Recommended Ramen Shop

by naruto

I love Ramen. It is my most favorite Japanese dish. I used to eat this every other two days at the same restaurant in San Francisco's Japantown when I was a student, and never got sick of it. When I came back to Singapore, I was hard-pressed to find a place that has good authentic ramen a few years back. Now, there are a few places that have sprung up serving pretty decent ramen, and although they still don't have the wide range of regional ramen available yet, I am happy with what I can get, and Ichibantei is a place I really recommend. There are two branches of Ichibantei, both located in the CBD. One is at Robertson Quay, and the other is at Hong Leong Building. Tonkatsu Ramen

Equinox Restaurant: Enjoy the view!

by sammie73

The view is worth it. Dining at the 70th storey of The Stamford Hotel in Singapore offers you a view of the Singapore skyline. On a good day, you might even see nearby Malaysia and Indonesia. Brought my boyfriend, Arno here for lunch, and he was impressed, especially since he's from the famous flatlands, The Netherlands. A great place for that romantic dinner as well.

The Humble House: A Cool Chinese Restaurant for Chinese Fine Dining

Reservations recommended to avoid disappointment.Extracted from the web :"My Humble House is an artistic collaboration between the Tung Lok Group and artist-musician Zhang Jin Jie of Beijing's Green T.
