The French Stall is a very good place to have french food in Singapore at an affordable price. This place is famous and crowded, so it is advisable to go early since there are no reservations. Besides the food, the ambience is cosy and the old problem is there is no-aircondition (though there are fans).
Below are the opening hours, location and contact details.
Open Hours:
Desserts & Drinks: 3pm-6pm Everyday
Dinner: 6pm-10pm Everyday

The Ng Ah Sio Pork Ribs Soup Eating House is a very famous eatery in Singapore for you to try out the pork ribs soup, which is a local delicacy.
Pork ribs soup (known as "Bak Kut Teh" locally) is essentially pork ribs and/or organs of the pig (e.g. liver, kidney) boiled in spicy and tasty herbal soup and served with rice and tea. This dish is very popular in Singapore and Malaysia.
Overall, I find Ng Ah Sio to serve good food, but it is not really that fantastic. If you are interested, below is the address, opening hours and contact details:

We always eat at The Ganges for their lunch buffet.
It is a small, cosy upstairs place where you can get North and South Indian buffet food. Lunch is from 11.30am to 3pm and dinner is from 6.30pm to 10pm. It's closed Sunday evening.

Besides the Pay-As-U-Wish Annalaksmi Indian Restaurant, this is another vegetarian Indian restaurant that i frequent if i'm in Little India.
It dishes out authentic South Indian food on traditional banana leaf and it can be crowded, esp during lunch time.
Sometimes my friend whether if i'm an Indian in my previous life! Cos i absolutely adore Indian cuisines, i mean there are so much spices and aromas...gosh, how could i resist?
Okie, my favourites are the paper dosai, chapati, vadar and of course my all time-fav Indian crackers, papadam!
if you are not sure what to order, you may ask the staff to recommend to you.
Oh yes, i like the samosa too!! lotsa veggie and potatoes fillings!

Hi, let me warn you first...This is NOT yr typical fine dining French Restaurant setting.
It's a cafe with very relaxed and casual setting, dress code is definitely casual. A lot of my friends have commented that it's very "kopitiam', (meaning Singapore version of olden coffee shops). But mind you, the food is good and prices are value for money, considering that Chef Xavier (Of course he's a French! =) used to work in a 5 star hotel! Now imagine having fine french food by the roadside, yet paying only a fraction of perhaps what you paid at other french restaurants??? How does that sound to you?
My favourites
- Beef Fondue Set for 2 person! Yummy!
- Smoked Salmon
- Steak au poivre
And for a person who always judge a menu by the quality of it's dessert....
It's a MUST-TRY
- The giant profiterole with a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream accompanied by chocolate sauce! Gosh it was meant for two, but i can polish off 2 on my own!!
I was very upset when they closed the outlet near my house at Upper Serangoon! Now i have to visit their outlet at Serangoon Rd for the giant profiterole.

This is one of my favourite restaurant in Little India that sells great Murtaba! Yummy!
So what is a Murtaba and why do i CRAVE for it? =) It's made of flour, ghee and of course eggs and savoury meat are thrown in. Mutton and Chicken are served in Blue Diamond and often i preferred the mutton for it's flavour. I know it's not east to get used to the taste of mutton but i can tell you, it's good.
Prices ranges from $5 onwards per order.

I was very happy, no no no, it should estactic when this cafe opened one year ago!! At that point, The French Stall was still around to offer something different, but it closed at 10pm. Pretty early.
What my friends (those staying in Upper Serangoon) and i needed was a cafe that opens til 12 midnight where we can drink and talk our hearts out.
So imagine our hurrays when Grapevine was opened! It's right besides the Crocodile Farm and it offers smoking (outside the cafe) and non-smoking seating.
Menu-wise, i honestly wouldn't say it's fantastic, but it's decent. They served western and fusion food. But be prepared to wait. So far the one that i'm very satisfied with their Fish & Chips.
I like their homemade Oreo Cheesecake!!! Yum!
Oh yes, they do not accept plastic, so pls get your cash ready. There are no ATM nearby.

Ever tried fishhead curry before? Ah Ha, it's about time then! =)
Step into this restaurant at race course road at serangoon and get ready to burn your tongue! No no no...wait a minute, didn't you go through my homepage, i'm not really a big fan of chilli and spicy food! =), so if i can take this, you should be able! No worries, water are in abundance here!
You eat from banana leaf and pls feel free to use your hands as you wish.
Fragrant biryani rice or plain rice are your choices to start off. It's good to share a large pot of fishhead curry for 3 - 4 persons. Now now now, it does not sound as terrible as it is! Or as it looks! Take a biet of this stewed white meat and you'll love it! It goes very well with biryani. =)
Other one of my favourites are potato cutlet and mutton curry. Oh yes, pls remember to order some papadam (fried rice cracker).
Oh what the eyballs??? ;P
Yes, i love to eat the eyeballs, nope, it's not extreme gourmet, it's simple lovely food. =)
It's soft but yet crunchy...yum yum. =)
Oh there are only 2 eyeballs, so i'm afraid you guys will need to fight it out if there are more than 2 of you.
Prices for the fishhead curry ranges between $18 - $25.

Surprisingly this hotel dishes out fresh and palatable japanese cuisines, their japanese buffet dinner is one of the most under-rated in Singapore.
Buffet prices start from $24 - $26 per adult, excluding taxes (of 10% GST, 1% cess and 5% GST). It's definitely value-for-money, you get fresh sashimi, a wide variety of handrolls, sushi, cold tofu and tempura.
What are you waiting for? =)
