Orchard Road: Singapore – A Shopper’s Paradise

by vaibhav_s

If you really wish to have a unique shopping experience, then Singapore is the place to be. Lovingly called as the paradise of shopping, Singapore shopping is indeed a wonderful experience. This small island country boasts of numerous shopping centers and malls where you can simply visit and pick up items of your choice. Whatever you want to buy, be it electrical goods, apparels, or other stylish and funky accessories, the shops are there to serve you. Moreover, you can enjoy shopping during the Great Singapore Sale. During this time, several shops remain open till twelve at midnight and beyond that on particular weekends and special priveleges are offered to the tourists.Singapore shopping can be described as an exotic experience for those who have a passion for shopping. The shopaholics can visit some of the largest shopping malls in Singapore located at Orchard Road or visit VivoCity,...

Various Shops & Good Restaurants: Wheelock Place - Nice Building & Shops

by Mikebb

We admired this impressive building from the otherside of Orchard Road and decided to cross over and take a closer look.It worked out well for the both of us as my wife found some good shoe shops and other interesting shops whilst I walked through the building admiring its workmanship. In so doing I found several interesting restaurants, one of which we later visited for lunch. All ended well as we were both happy. Borders for books, various shoe stores and speciality womens retailers, Marks & Spencers etc etc. I enjoyed lunch at Cedele Restaurant.

Sim Lim Tower - Footprint Electronics: Electronics, Cameras, Computers - Over 100 Shops

by Mikebb

Sim Lim Tower is the building which has over 100 shops retailing electronics. If you are looking to buy a camera or assessories, computer, telephone, radios and 1,000 or more electronic gadgets the Sim Lim Tower is where you will find it.Do not buy from the first shop, continue through the various floors and compare prices and what is on offer. Then start to bargain and be careful as these retailers are very clever, they may try to switch you to another model at a cheaper price, or change a lens to meet your price.Recommend you check prices in your home town before you travel, write down your model numbers and find out whether the model is current, when it was released. Now you are prepared to bargain and have a chance of success. You will be amazed at the variety of products on sale. We purchased a Cannon DSLR camera, filters, additional lens etc, however I took with me a brochure from a...

Tampines, Boonlay, Woodlands - Local Shopping!

by Cathy&Gary

The 3 shopping centres below are not where the average tourist normally ventures out to,My advise is jump on the MRT and go!!!! Everything you can think of is in these malls and they are a lot cheaper than Orchard Rd. All of them are very easy to get to as they are adjacent to MRT stations.TampinesWe have been to Tampines many many times over the years and it still remains my favourite local shopping centre. There are 3 huge shopping malls here, Tampines and Century Square which are linked by a covered walkway and the newer Tampines 1 which only opened in 2009. There are department stores, supermarkets, hundreds of fashion shops, sportswear stores, jewellery shops, restaurants and food courts.WoodlandsCauseway Point Shopping Mall is next to Woodlands MRT, this mall is extremely busy on weekends and due to it being so close to the Malaysian Checkpoint you will find lots of Malaysians...

Johor Bahru Shopping: Johor Bahru Shopping

by Cathy&Gary

It is well worth doing a shopping trip to Johor Bahru (Malaysia) for the day. Shops in the shopping malls offer great bargains and there are also good night markets. Now for some popular shopping Malls.Plaza PelangiJohor Bahru's most exciting shopping mall, has loads of stores that offer value for money quality merchandise from handicraft items and souvenirs to large selections of fashion, accessories, and trendy footwear. The shopping mall is a 10-minute drive away from the Singapore-Malaysia Causeway and is well served by taxis and regular bus services. Kompleks Lien HoeApproximately 5km north of Johor Bahru, just off Jalan Tebrau, this well-known budget shopping center houses department stores, retail outlets, furniture showrooms, and restaurants. A regular bazaar on the ground floor has a wide range of apparel, shoes, handbags, handicrafts, and household items at bargain prices. The...

Sim Lim Square: Sim Lim Square

by Cathy&Gary

Sim Lim Square with over 400 shops is not far from Little India, it is one of the oldest and popular complexes in Singapore for anything electrical. Row upon row of shops on four levels deal in stereos, computers, software, games. CD players, TVs, VCRs, laser disc players, cameras, videocams and anything electronic. Be sure to take time to shop around, and compare and negotiate prices. Check goods carefully and insist on detailed receipts and full international guarantees. Not my favourite shopping centre but Gary seems to be able to spend hours in here.Nearest MRT station: Bugis (EW12)

Ngee Ann City: Ngee Ann City

by Cathy&Gary

NGEE ANN CITYIt will take you more than a day to completely browse through this massive complex!Besides the Japanese giant chain store, Takashimaya, there are over 100 specialty stores retailing sports items, stationery, electronics and electrical, jewellery and designer clothes.Popular labels such as Guess, Hugo Boss Woman, Spain's Zara and Mango fashion labels and Australia's Country Road are just some of the many international boutiques here.Or drop by Kinokuniya, the largest bookstore in Southeast Asia. There's also a full facility sports centre, an art gallery and a culture centre you can visit. This is such a beautiful shopping centre, there is a great Nike shoe shop in here and prices were a lot cheaper than Australia.

Tangs: Tangs

by Cathy&Gary

There are just so many shopping centers in Singapore. I mainly go to the same old favorites and one of them is Tangs. They have the best cosmetic/perfume section and a huge handbag section. The photo of the bag below is one I bought last year from Tangs during the Great Singapore Sale. It is an Elle handbag and ended up costing me $60 after the 50% discount plus another 5% tourist discount. There is always a promotion or special going on perfumes.Founded in 1932, Tangs has always positioned itself as an Asian lifestyle store with an international appeal. Tangs carries exclusive and specialized merchandise, from beauty products, international fashion labels, shoes, accessories, electronics to homeware.Tangs is Singapore's oldest department store.320 Orchard Rd!!Tangs also has a new department store at Vivocity.

Lucky Plaza: Lucky Plaza

by Cathy&Gary

Lucky Plaza is one of our favourite shopping centres. This place is always packed and there is floor upon floor of various shops selling everything from electrical goods, clothes, perfumes, watches and sooo much more. You can bargain in most of these shops and there are still lots of good buys to be had here.We have bought beautiful tablecloth sets here for S$20, kimonos for $10, if you know what your looking for and prices etc good deals can be had on cameras etc.
