    Strict rules

    by deeper_blue Written Jun 17, 2012 1112 reviews

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Favorite thing: Singapore is clean and orderly, due to a long list of illegal things, such as chewing gum, jaywalking and making loud noise. Be wary when crossing roads there will be an underpass you must take, often hi-tech and highly complicated, e.g. taking 3 escalators to cross one road.

    by msdiane_ph Written Apr 9, 2008 1 reviews

    Favorite thing: Tobacco products are allowed entry, subject to certain conditions:

    Travellers can bring in cigarettes that do not have the “Singapore Duty Not Paid” marking or the prefix ‘E’ printed on the packet. However they must declare the cigarettes and proceed to pay duty and GST accordingly. More information can be found at the Singapore Customs website at www.customs.gov.sg

    Generally, there are 4 types of dutiable goods in Singapore as follows.
    Intoxicating liquors, including spirits, wine, beer, ale and stout;
    Tobacco, including cigarettes and cigars;
    Motor spirit; and
    Motor cars and motorcycles/motor scooters
    Please approach ICA officer at the Red Channel for payment of duty and GST if you have dutiable goods which exceed the GST relief or duty-free concession. It is an offence to proceed to the Green Channel for clearance if you have items that are subject to payment of duty/GST.

    Cigarettes (1 gm or less)
    Customs Duty: Nil
    Excise Duty: 35.2 cents for every gram or part thereof of each stick of cigarette 4 months ago

There Are Still Smoking Area In Singapore Airport For Smokers To Ease Their Pain...Luckily ! Or They Will Sulk And Curse Forever!

    Singapore- a fine city

    Favorite thing: There are signboards warning you about fines for smoking, drinking etc., in MRT stations and trains. Sometimes u do see some litters in the stations also. These warnings are mainly for maintaining discipline. But it is foolishness to try to violate them since all MRT stations are watched by several CCTVs.

    It’s a Fine City

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Favorite thing: After admiring high rise buildings and a very tidy city, later I feel this very tidy city communicate with signboards. Effortlessly, I found many “No” sign everywhere.
    I like those signs. It’s just cool. I think I am not the only person who see the “No” sign everywhere. I bumped to a shirt in the market with many “No” signs all over the shirt. Welcome to Singapore My Fellow Travellers.

    Despised universally, a Singapore traffic warden

    Favorite thing: There is something strangely satisfying about seeing a traffic warden targeting a Ferrari. I think the German's call it Schadenfreude!
