Deepavali also known as Festival of Lights is celebrated by the Hindus on 1 Nov 2005.
It is a celebration of good triumph over evil.
Temples in Little India and the streets are decorated with lights, tinsel and garlands.

Head down to Little India to take in the atmosphere. Have henna drawn on your hands or have a taste of the goodies and tibits.

    Deepavali Celebrations

by Hewer Written Nov 4, 2004

Deepavali is a Hindu festival commemorating the victory of the Hindu God Lord Krishna over the evil demon Narakasura.

Deepavali is a big event in Singapore, and celebrations centre around Little India. The date of Deepavali varies slightly from year to year but the celebrations take place over a whole month in Singapore. There are special markets, street performances and several processions and ceremonies. There is even a special Deepavali Tour in an open top bus.

It`s definitely rewarding to experience some of the festivities if you are in Singapore at the right time. Deepavali takes place in the later months of the year - in 2004 the celebrations run from October 15 until November 14.
