In Singapore, durians are available all year around the year as they are imported from nearby countries such as Malaysia.
It is well-loved by the locals, however if you can from other countries such as Europe, you may find this fruit smelly because of its strong smell.
If you are daring enough,I would strongly encourage you to try it,you will sure love it.
Other durians products are also readily available such as durian cakes and durian puffs.
I am not a durian lover, but when i first came here, a friend of mine introduced me to this foul smelling fruit. I tried it with resignation. It has a creamy texture (sort of like a pudding), but the smell is hard to put off.
In southeast asia, the durian is one of the more popular fruits. They even have various grading proceedures-with the higher grades costing much more. When you go into most Singapore food stores, such as Cold Storage you will see the Durian hawker calling out the best prices. When the store is about to close-you can get the best prices.
If you are scared away by the durian and most are. There are much easier ways to try the spiky fruit. There are durian candy, durian crepes, ice cream-there is one stall at the Takashimaya food court that sells various durian sweets.
