Ok, this is about karaoke but hear me out. This is LIVE karaoke at its best. Actors Pub attracts musicians and singers (and general walk-in-off-the-street-wannabes like me) who just like to hang out, meet some new friends, have a few drinks and sing, and play. Open mic style.
There's a core live band -- ex-professional musicians -- and you name the song and the key they'll back you. If you want to strap on a guitar, or bang the bongos, go for it.
Real friendly bon homie atmosphere, and an easy way to mix with the local crowd and strike up new friendships.
Closed Sundays.

You can find all sorts of things to do here. People watching, boat trip, recreational park, barhopping, eating to your hearts delight here at the Quay.
I like the overhead roof shaped like flower petals. The mist spray makes the area conducive to strolling. Several fountains makes the area nice and interesting.
Hooters, One Night stand, are just a few examples of the bars.
Dress Code:
Depends on which restaurants who go to.
If you're not Chinese, I don't recommend you come here to socialise, but wifey and I enjoyed it because it was so different. Live 'canto-pop' bands, and some strange drinking rituals going around. It seemed there was a competition to buy the biggest bottle of Scotch (mostly Chivas Regal) - there were a few ordered that looked like 10 gallons ! All were dispatched with sparklers and great ceremony. There were a lot of absolutely smashed people there.
Highly entertaining for people-watching, but not a fun night out in the traditional sense.
Damned expensive drinks - 26 dollars for 2 beers !

After having dinner on those numerous restaurants in Clarke Quay, and fancy a dessert. Try the Turkish ice cream, and will cost you only a few Sing dollar. There are many flavors to choose from, and also got the option to dip with chocolate or not.
The Turkish ice cream vendor is truly got a great showmanship :-) you will see people enjoying how their ice cream was placed on the cone. ..
This area is the place to be at night. Very nice ambience with a lot of street performers and couples strolling around this place. This area also houses a lot of clubs, bars and restaurants. A must place to visit in Singapore...
Clarke Quay has recently undergone a major refurbishment. It is now a hub of activity, with nightclubs, bars, restaurants and cafes. Just walk around the alleys and you will come across something that fits your taste - Indian, Persian, Italian, Thai, Chinese, Moroccan food. For hard core clubbers, there is the Ministry of Sound which gets packed during the weekends. There are street performances during certain weekends. Some of the bars and restaurants are by the river with al fresco dining. Not all of them live up to the prices that they charge, so if you want to dine by the river, just be prepared to pay a higher price for the experience. There are also Chinese junk boats converted into floating restaurants.
Dress Code:
Casual. For entry into clubs, smart casual is expected.
Some years ago, Clarke Quay was a nice spot for evening entertainment and rustic eating out - hawker stalls selling satay, mixed vegetables and fried rice. This is all gone, and I admit I was a bit disappointed, but what they made of it is still great!
Extremely modern and stylish, the old houses have been restorated and there is an uncountable number of international restaurants and bars to hang out. When we were there, some special week-end entertainment took place with acrobatic shows, dancing etc. which was fantastic.
Though of course all the tourists go there it is a very nice place and should not be missed!
The Crazy Elephant is a small but lively bar at Clarke Quay. I think they have daily live performances every night from 10pm onwards and when I went there they had a very good band of Australians and Philippino's playing blues and rock & roll.
Somewhat older crowd (40+) and a lot of British expats. Service is good and they have decent collection of beers. Be prepared to pay Western prices as with the other establishments at Clarke Quay.
Located at Clarke Quay, Brewerkz is a microbrewery, sports bar & restaurant. I have never actually eaten here so I will only talk about the beer and the atmosphere :)
It is a good looking sports bar, with pool table, multiple TV's and dartboards. The main attraction though is definitely the micro brewed beers. They are all of good quality, but the IPA stands out as very enjoyable while you might want to stay away from the coffee flavoured beer *shudders*
If you like English football this is a good place to hang out and watch a game on Saturday night. As with other establishments at Clarke Quay expect to pay Western prices.
dont tip staff at clarke quay every bar has service charge in boat quay no service charge if you go clarke go to the cuba liebra thursday night two brothers sing they are brillant if you like soul motown

I don't go 'clubbing' per se, but I do like live bands; there are a lot of good options already mentioned by Clarke Quay, but I think the http://thepumproomasia.com deserves a mention if you like good beer, live music and western food.
