    Chijmes: Chillout at CHIJMES

    CHIJMES

CHIJMES (pronounced "Chimes") was once the Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus (CHIJ). The chapel, built in the 1903, still stands today. Weddings are still being held at this venue.

CHIJ reopened its doors as CHIJMES in 1997 after a S$100 million in restoration . Who would have thought that one of Singapore's premier nightspots would be behind cloister walls?

CHIJMES is more of a chill out retreat. It is an ideal place to relax and chill out. La Cave Winebar, China Jump, Father Flanagan's Irish Pub are the places where you can chill out.

The ambience is reminiscent of nostalgic Shanghai in the 30s. At around 10 pm, the place will be transfored into a disco. A live band performs from 10.30 pm every night except Wednesdays.

Chijmes: not noisy like clarke and boat quay!

the convent of holy infant jesus [chij] chapel and caldwell house gazetted as a monument on october 26th 1990.
for me, the concept is brilliant. the chapel is in gothic style [completed 1890 - 1910] then behind this place is caldwell house, designed by gd. coleman and purchased on august 18th 1852 by reverend jm beurel. and now changed into places for eating and drinking, live performance and spa. and the name itself becomes chijmes [pronounced as chimes].
whenever i found clarke and boat quay in noisy-hectic atmosphere, here my feeling turn into relaxing mode. nice and comfy. several places for hang-out here are: la cafe winebar and father flanagan's irish pub.

Dress Code: casual but not flip flop, please.
