This place is an old favourite... The live band is called Jive Talking - they used to play here YEARS ago, and have recently returned, with a different line up. The music they play ranges from R&B, pop to classic rock. They play about 4 sets of 45 mins starting from 10:30pm. In between, a DJ spins music (anything from top 40s to retro to dance music). Service is good - they are constantly topping up the ice bucket (when you have a bottle). Crowd here is made up mainly of working professionals (local and expats) and tourists. Popular spot for birthday and hen night celebrations. This place closes at 3am, but if you're up for more partying, adjourn to the Living Room upstairs which closes at 6am. First drink charge of $20 on Friday and Saturday nights.

My friends love to hang out here and I've gotten quite fond of the place myself. This bar / pub is tucked away in a two level Peranakan shophouse at Emerald Hill, just off Orchard Road. Great place for drinks with friends as it's not that noisy (especially upstairs) so you can have a conversation without shouting at the top of your lungs. If you're hungry, try the chicken wings -deep fried, and oh so sinfully tasty. No cover charge. Happy hour is until 9pm. Nearby places to check out include Que Pasa (Wines & Cigars) just next door, and Rouge Club and Alley Bar.

Just located right of the Hyatt Hotel main entrance, the BRIX offers three Wine and Whisky Bar + Live music
Live music is very good: Hip Hop, Pop, R&B, Soul and disco.
A little expensive (7-9S$ for a "basic" beer)
Hours: Monday to Friday 7.00pm to 3.00am
Saturday to Sunday 8.00pm to 3.00am
A lot of foreign tourists, and a lot ... of working girls. Discreet, I saw it hardly.

This is a small street that leads to Emerald Hill, on the north side of Orchard Road. It contains a string of great bars and restaurants, the ones I can remember are:
Alley Bar
Que Pasa
Ice Cold Beer Co
No 5
All were lively and pleasant, with 'happy hour' offers. I found the rest of Singapore a bit sterile for nightlife, but these were more like UK places (but with nice weather of course !)
Dress Code: Casual - anything goes...you would be OK in your office clothes too.

If you are not in the mood to go clubbing, the best way to spend an evening in Singapore is strollling through Orchard Road. Lined up with shopping malls on both sides of the road, this long stretch provides ample opportunities for just watching people!
There is always some band performing at roadside and for free. They always manage to bring all the pedestrians to a stand-stop. And yeah, they did perform real well!

Strumm's has a very good filipino live band that play from Tuesday till Sunday. They typically play from 7 pm till 4 am. The bartenders, and waitresses are friendly, all filipino's, and very helpful. The only bad thing is that the beers are a little warm and cost around S$38. The bar has a dj and dance floor for when the band is not playing and on the weends (which start on a thursday) the place gets really full with patrons. So wear your dancing shoes, bring your rythym, and enjoy a good night in Strumm's.

Christmas is always a special time in Singapore. The City puts up a good show, and every building and every main street is decorated and brightly lit up, especially in November and December each year. When night falls, the shopping streets of Orchard Road and Scotts Road becomes a fairlyland that sparkles in a multitude of colours and designs that are a truly a sight to behold!
Take a stroll to enjoy the lights and colours of Orchard Road. Why not stop for a cup of freshly brewed cafe latte at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (my personal favourite!), or for a slice of kampung-styled nostalgia, you could buy an ice-cream potong from the road-side vendor, or perhaps a bag full of freshly roasted chesnuts. You and your kids will surely love being out at night!

Basically there are two major nightlife actitivies in there (1) Clubbing (2) Supper
(1) Clubbing - As per my list at 'must-see activities', clubbing is one of the great hobby of young people in Singapore, most clubbers were either students or yuppies.
Zouk - One of the renowned Club in Singapore for its music & people watching. It compromise of a winebar, zouk club, phuture & velvet underground 4 clubs under 1 venue.
Check it out if you are into Trance/techno/drum & bass etc type of music. www.zoukclub.com
There are many other clubbing area like Boat Quay (if you are into pub drinking with some live band music), Mohammed Sultan Road (if you are into bar-top dancing & various theme of music bar to select from), China Jump at CHIJMES (Live band & Top hits), Hilton Hotel (Live Jazz music), Emerald Hill area (for Jazz/live band).
My personal favourite would be Alley Bar at Emerald Hill, there is a new club called Rouge (a fanciful club with lotsa talented local DJ spinning the night away), ice cold beer is round the corner too & you could catch a game of English Premier league with a huge tv screen from one of the alfresco pub.
And much more choices located at other areas, will update again.
Dress Code: Beach wear would not be recommendable hiaks! Stay casual or dress up in your stylish top fashion & parade at Zouk club where lotsa wannabes will hang around.

When it is near Christmas festival, Singapore's Orchard Road is very beautiful. Lights and special decoration of each building and streets are very attractive. The design makes you feel you are in a Christmas Time. Do pay a visit to Orchard Road at night, when it is near Christmas. Beautiful Christmas trees and lights are waiting for you.
