Umbrella & Raingear, Singapore
Luggage and bags:
Spare space in your bag for all that shopping! Be it the fantastic Silk, or herbal medicines or electrical goods that you can buy here in Singapore at bargain prices...compared to where I live anyways!*
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: It was very hot and humid during my visit in November, however it did also rain, so light clothing, but an umberella would help too!*
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: You can buy everything here in Singapore*
Photo Equipment: *Tons, I diddnt take enough film or anything, you can buy it here, you will need loads there is so much to see!*
Miscellaneous: Guidebooks - I used various books for my stay here, the best one was this one that I actually picked up in Singapore produced by the Tourism Authority.*
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: If you get caught anywhere in the rain, find a HANG TEN or Giordano shop. You can buy an umbrella from them, keep the receipt, and return it at any of their outlets at another day. The difference between what you pay for the umbrella initially and what they refund you is the rental fee.
Luggage and bags:
It really depends on you. I always travel with a big Longchamp shoulder bag which houses all my gadgets, makeup and wallet. But most guys travel with knapsacks. Don't worry too much as Singapore is a safe country. I haven't heard of any theft or snatchers here.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: COMFIEST shoes you can ever find. You'll be walking all over.
Bring disposable slippers. Most places/houses/hostels will ask you to leave your shoes at the door. You'll end up going barefoot inside. I stayed in a hostel once and saw most people in socks or barefoot. Good thing I had brand new disposable slippers. Singaporeans are fussy about bringing dirt from the outside into their homes.
Have a small foldable umbrella in your bag. The weather can be super duper sunny then all of a sudden, will rain in the afternoon.
As for clothing.... the coolest you can find. Thin material if possible. Singapore is a HOT place. I usually survive my 4-5 days there in shorts and the thinnest tops I have. Prepare clothes for hot weather.
**bring a sarong to tie around your waist. :) Some temples provide some for you to wrap yourselves in but... if you're icky about using stuff that have been used before...bring your own sarong.
Sunglasses/hats might be good too. :)
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Your medical supplies is up to you. But what you should always have with you are TISSUES. Hand tissues and/or WET ONES. Here in singapore, most places (hawker centers) won't give you tissues/napkins when you order your food. If they do...there most likely be a hidden charge/payment. Just always have tissues, wetones, and/or a hand sanitizer. :)
Photo Equipment: Almost every traveller has a digital camera right? Just make sure you pack a universal adaptor. Singapore plug outlets have the big 3 prong one...all of them flat.
Luggage and bags:
One extra suitcase for the shopping
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Very light clothes, cool stuff to go out, and an umbrella !!!
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Travel light ! I always carry a collection of miniature format...no big bottles...
Photo Equipment: what else than a cool pocket size digital camera
Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: Camping....not really
Beach...oh yeah !
Miscellaneous: Think tropical...
Luggage and bags:
Even though Singapore is in a tropical area-it doesn't rain every day. But you never know when it's going to rain, unless you are here during the monsoon (late october to feb).
When packing for your trip to southeast asia-i highly recommend bringing a small, but strong umbrella. One that can handle heavy downpours. If you don't have the room or forget it at home-you can always rent one at select locations. At the store Giordano-you can rent one. Some information kiosks in the mall-will rent you one, by leaving a deposit. I have rented one from the Heeren shopping center on Orchard Road.
If you want to buy a new umbrella here in Singapore-you will be spoiled by choice. Lots and lots of tiny umbrellas, Even umbrellas that come with hard plastic that surrounds the umbrella when wet or dry. When open it looks like a little bottle is on top the umbrella.
Umbrellas-an essential gear
In a tropical country like Singapore, an umbrella serves to provide shade on a sunny day and keeps you dry on a rainy day. And mind you, it can be bright and suuny and the next moment, it is rainning cats and dogs
Even if it does rain, i think that you would survive in shorts and t-shirts!
Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: I think you need an umbrella...fair enough it is a hot country, but it does rain quite a lot! SO i think a small umbrella would be sufficient!
Umbrella or rain gear should be handy if you are visiting Singapore. Weather in Singapore changes very quickly and that too without warning. Though there is nothing to worry as such because the rains in SG are not heavy. It almost rains throughout the year but most of the time its in the form of mild showers which lasts for few minutes.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: It is said that there are two seasons in Singapore - Wet and Dry. Either or, it'll be a wise choice to either bring a cap or for ladies, an umbrella.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Singapore gets a lot of rain and when it rains, IT RAINS! If you are out and about you will be advised to carry an umbrella and/or a raincoat.
