Cafe Lotus sits right on the banks of the Singapore river along Boat Quay, where you will see lots of cafes and restaurants. Boat Quay is largely made up of older buildings, with Singapores skyscrapers behind.
I had spent a lovely morning exploring Singapore and taking a bum boat up the river, and was more than ready for lunch when I found Cafe Lotus. Sitting by the waters edge, with a big plate of chilli crab and a cool glass of Chardonnay, I enjoyed my lunch watching the boats go by....perfect!
Favorite Dish: Chilli Crab is one of Singapores national dishes, so you really should try it while you are here. Made from great big Sri Lankan crabs which are cooked in a rich chilli and tomato gravy and served with rice or fresh bread rolls - and a finger bowl 'cause you're going to make a bit of a mess! Absolutely scrumptious - don't miss this!

Cafe Lotus featured items from several different Asian countries like Singapore, Thailand, India, Indonesia, the Phillipines and so on. Sort of what my old roommate used to call confusion cuisine. By the Lotus pulls it off okay...
Favorite Dish: Start off with some chili prawn skewers and then head into a Mee Goreng, which is a noodle dish with prawns and squid from Indonesia. Naturally, this little meal should be accompanied with Tiger beer.
