Ya Kun Kaya Toast ...since 1944: Kaya Toast & Half Boiled Eggs!!! Slurp! ;P

by Rachelynn Written Dec 8, 2004
Always crowded at almost every outlet of Ya Kun

This is one shop that i can frequent for breakfast, lunch, tea break, dinner or even supper. Yes, I love the toast here!

The toast are nothing like those in coffee clubs or restaurants, it's thinly sliced, charcoal grilled and generously slap with Kaya ( a heavenly concoction of eggs and coconut milk). Take one bite and you are hooked!!!

I always order the set, kaya toast and 2 half boiled eggs!!! Pour some soy sauce on it and voila! It's my 'red bull' (energy booster!) for the day! And it's served with either tea or coffee.

The butter with sugar toast is also fab! Great with the eggs too!

    One set cost $3.60 SGD.

You can find Ya Kun coffe stalls at
    - Takashimaya (it's just a take-away counter, inside the crowded food court)
    - Tanjong Pagar (opposite Maxwell Market)
    - Bishan Junction 8 (Basemt 1- my fav hangout)
    - Raffles Hospital (Besides the Banquet Foodcourt)
    - Parkway Parade (In the East side of Spore - near East Coast)

Why not get some local breakfast?

    Toasted Bread with butter.

    Kiliney Kopitiam
Nasi Lemak (coconut-flavoured rice, slice of omelette, anchovies, slice of cucumber, chili paste wrapped in banana leaf.

    Favorite Dish: Ya Kun
Try the Kaya toast bread with butter and eggs. The bread are toasted on charcoal. try their hot tea with milk or their ice lemon tea.

    Kiliney Kopitiam
try thier nasi lemak. add a otak (chili fish paste wrapped in banana leaft). order their beancurd drink.

    Suntec Congress Coffeeshop
do try one of the best roti prata in Singapore. you can order it plain, with egg, with onion or with both. simply love the verg curry.

delicious noodles with beans sprouts, prawns and fish cake.

    Wanton Noodles
you can order a dry bowl of waton noodles (yellow flour skin wrapped with pork) and help yourself to the soup. do tell them no chili if you dont take spicy stuff.
