    Zam Zam: Top roti prata

by robertgaz Written Sep 29, 2008

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Zam Zam is one of the best roti prata places found in Singapore and you can watch skilful murtabak makers at work.

Murtabak is like a prata stuffed with ground mutton, chopped onions, egg and is dipped into a curry sauce.

There were five people and several cameras but for some reason no pictures were taken!

Favorite Dish: We went to Zam Zam's after our claypot chicken at the Golden Mile Food Court for drinks.

We had teh tarik, kopi and the kids had cool drinks.

Zam Zam Murtabak at Masjid Sultan: Don't miss the murtabak!

If you are around the Sultan Mosque/Masjid Sultan, don't forget to try the famous murtabak at Zam Zam Restaurant! You can watch how Murtabaks are being made in front of you !

Favorite Dish: Beef / Mutton Murtabak. It is light, fluffy and crispy on the outside and has chunks of ground beef/mutton as it's filling. The murtabak is usually dipped into curry to complement the dish. Try it! It is yummy! $ SGD 5 worth of murtabak could be shared by 3 people! It is definitely value for money.

Zam Zam: Muslim food in Arab quarter

by Blondiina Updated Jun 6, 2007

This street side restaurant with open kitchen has been in its location for ages, from 1908 to be exact. It is located in the Arab district right by the Sultan Mosque and claims to have the best Muslim food in town. They have touts in front of the restaurant and even though we usually steer clear of places like that we went in this time as all the touts, cooks and waiters looked so friendly. We both had chicken murtabak, medium size, and I can only imagine the size of the big ones as there was plenty to eat in the medium too. The murtabaks were very good, but quite spicy. Well, at least to us, who normally don’t eat spicy food at all. ;-) When we left even the cooks waved us goodbye so we really felt this was a friendly place and it won’t make a hole in your wallet to eat here.

Zam Zam is famous for its Murtabaks, Briyani, Roti Prata and Chicken Curry.

It is just situated across from the famous Mohd Sultan Mosque.
You could have your meal after the visit.

You may go nearby for a Sheesha after dinner at Cafe Samar.

This is one of our favourite place where we hold our VT Meets.
