Yes, I love a good retail exercise. It’s so fulfilling and, uhm, satisfying! There’s something wonderful about knowing you have purchasing power. I’m pretty aware that it’s nothing compared to para-sailing or skiing, but what the heck. I’m still writing it down because there’s not much to do in Singapore but to shop.

The best place to go to for home furnishing is Ikea. You’d always find something interesting for your home, or your kid’s room or even your pet’s playhouse. What's more, Ikea is able to keep the prices low because part of the work (like installation) is done by the customer. That makes it even better as the experience of assembling a side table or a cabinet becomes your own moment, a labour of love.

What to buy: Home furnishings, bed and bath, kitchen ware and utensils -- almost everything!

What to pay: With a minimum of SGD150, your shopping day is complete.

    IKEA needs no further introduction.

What to buy: Most items are flat packet. so its pretty much easy to carry as well as to ship to your hometown. this is one of the reason why their prices are lower.

Lamps & kitchen/bathroom accessories, store & organise, decoration & meatballs.

What to pay: the prices r fixed for a year. u pay whats listed in the catalogue which is available in the store. just ask any sales assistant. fyi, the catalog is delivered to households in singapore free every year.
