Ngee Ann City, Singapore
the Ngee Ann City Takashimaya Mall in Orchard Road Singapore was formerly the Most Luxe of the Luxe Department Stores in Orchard Road competing with Paragon Mall, ION and Tangs. Why formerly? well, for me, the Takashimaya Mall is now ECLIPSED by the Spanking New THE SHOPPES at MARINA BAY SANDS mall in Marina Bay!!!!! (see my Shoppes at Marina Bay tips). It is still the TOP DOG in ORCHARD ROAD but not in the whole of SINGAPORE. This Sprawling mall and Office Complex has two 26 story towers and among the tenants inside this luxe mall include: Bvlgari, Celine, Cartier, Chanel, Christian Dior, Dunhill, Fendi,TAG Heuer, Hugo Boss, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co., Burberry, Bvlgari and Hermès to name a few.
There is also a budget food court located at the basement.
What to buy: Takashimaya Opens 10:00 am to 9:30 pm everyday.
well it depend on your budget what else. If you are into Mid price Brands then go to the Ralph Lauren, Coach, Zara or Calvin Klein Brands. If your into High Price then to Gucci, Hugo Boss or Burberry and if your on the Splurge type then buy at Louis Vuitton, Emporio Armani, Hermes', Cartier or Chanel!
My advice: again eat at the food court in the basement and just windowshop unless you want to spend a lot.
What to pay: Maxx out your Platinum Credit Card!!!!!
Located in the heart of Orchard Road, Takashimaya Shopping Centre (commonly known as Taka) offers a great shopping experience, ranging from top international designer brands to international cuisine.
Anchor Tenants are Takashimaya Department Store, Books Kinokuniya, Best Connection, Library @ Orchard.
There are many restaurants and some of my fav like La Mian Xiao Long Bao and Genghiskhan are both located there. And dont forget to stop at the food mall at the basement cos they have lots of tempting and tasty snacks (too many to name).
Of all the myriad shopping malls in Singapore, this was my favourite. It's on the corner of Orchard and Scotts Rd, near Orchard MRT. Contains a large Japanese department store 'Takashimaya' known as 'Taka' locally. The basement food court is fascinating - it was the only place I saw selling Durian. Also there's a great coffee shop on the 3rd floor overlooking Orchard Rd.
What to buy: Weird food from the basement food court.
What to pay: Same as everywhere else.
This impressive two towers shopping complex and office block with stone lions at the entrance for good Fengshui (Chinese geomancy).
Anchor tenant is the famous Takashimaya Departmental Store with a popular basement food court.
Includes a small Public Library, Post Office, Kinokuniya Bookstore with large selection o fEnglish and Japanese books.
Also many high end designer brand fashion outlets and restaurants to choose from.
In my opinion, this shopping center has more fancy stores than most shopping centers in Orchard Road. I like the reddish granite facade on the building. Takashimaya, the Japanese department store, is here.
Actually, I like the Plaza Singapura (Dhoby Ghaut MRT) better, but the shopping is a bit less fancy while still being nice.
I also like the Paragon, across from Ngee Ann City, primarily because that's where the Singapore Airlines ticket office is located. Before or after going to the ticket office, I often walk around the Paragon for a short while.
The air conditioning at the Specialist's Shopping Centre seems to be nice and cold. However, that place is really not a shopping centre, just the John Little department store, Starbucks, and the OCBC Bank (which owns the building...now how many tourists know that!).
Takashimaya (One of famous Japanese famous store)is my favourite department store. Great value and plenty of varieties. I believe is one of singaporean favourites place to hang out.
In fact its also a great place for window shopping and has a great food court on the basement.
What to buy: Clothes section is recommended.
Takashimaya Department Store (Inside Ngee Ann City) was the first place we visited on Orchard Road. After about 1 hour we were a bit dissapointed because there was nothing special , then we went into the basement and we found the Food Village (Food Court). I think it 's the best thing in the whole store !. You can choose to have Japanese, Chinese, Malaysian, Vietnamese, Korean, Thais...food. They are all delicious and at a low price. It's one of the best places to have lunch on Orchard Road.
Ngee Ann City is located in the heart of Orchard Road, next to Wisma Atria. With its reddish brown building colour, you will definetly not miss it.Ngee Ann City was opened in 1993 and is the most popular & crowded mall in Orchard Road.
Ngee Ann City is referred as 'Taka' by most Singaporean because of Takashimaya department store which occupies from Basement 2 to Level 4.
What to buy: Other than the Takashimaya department store,There is also a library@orchard at Level 5 & Books Kinokuniya at Level 3.Ngee Ann City is mainly a place for branded products such as Bulgari, Cartier, Chanel, Christian Dior, Fendi, Hugo Boss, Louis Vuitton etc..
It doesn't matter where you go in the world, you will for sure bump into a Takashimaya. Also Singapore has an outlet at Orchard Road.
What to buy: Even though that mall does not appeal to me that much, it is a shop where I always, and I mean ALWAYS find something to buy.... and I swear, so will you.
What to pay: Hello!? It is on Orchard Road....
Ngee Ann City is the most luxurious shopping mall in Singapore. Most of the major high profiled brands are gathered under its roof. The missing stores can be found on the other side of the road in Paragon.
The shops are not very big, more like boutiques of some sort. This creates nice intimate ambience for the whole place. There are also a few bigger stores, such as department store Takashiyama, bookstore Books Kinokuniya and appliance store Best Denki.
Everything can be bought, but the best thing is the Kikokuniya (?) book shop, large and very extensive.
