Fly to Singapore Budget Airline

My wife and I rode for the first time on Tiger Air to Singapore from the Philippines and it was worth it! We were able to avail of one of their offers and our round trip fare (not including taxes and insurance) was only US$23.64 for both of us. You will be arriving at their Budget Terminal, which is a very basic airport; size is just right but most of the necessities are there. You can even "surf" on one of their computers for free for 15 minutes! On Tiger Air, on the other hand, you will have to buy for the meals or drinks they offer on the plane. The prices are not that bad, S$8 for a small hot meal served on a styrofoam and the softdrinks are around S$2, if I'm not mistaken. Just eat a heavy meal before boarding. And a reminder to potential passengers, the weight limit for check in luggage is strictly 15kg per individual. I suggest you bring a carry-on bag and place your extra stuff there.

Air Asia.....or, "Seat of the pants airline"

We flew Air Asia from Singapore to Bangkok. The plane was OLD, The seats were the SMALLEST we have ever sat in. The legroom was practically non existant. The plane was absolutely FILTHY. The computer was down at check in. The plane was much more than an hour late departing. They have a limit on checked baggage weight of 15 kilo(about 32 pounds) and a limit of carryon of about 7 kilo (about 15 pounds). There is no seating assignment and no control over boarding, it's every man for himself once they open the gate and the people were like stampeding cattle. The red carpet advertised on the web site is of the old Chinese restaurant variety in the states. Yes, the seats are leather, what there is to them. The yummy snacks (at a price) consisted of peanuts and ginger ale.
The price of the flight was cheap, so if that makes you happy, go for it. We would not fly Air Asia again at any price. Not a warm fuzzy feeling...definitely not a SAFE feeling.

Budget Terminal in Changi Airport is not as big as the main terminal. They use this terminal for cheap flights from other countries. Cebu Pacific from the Philippines is one of them. It's still very nice and clean. You can roam around their duty free shops and use the free internet provided by the airport. You can also have a quick bite while waiting for your flight.

Cebu Pacific

We board Cebu Pacific on our round trip to Singapore from the Philippines. Cebu Pacific offers cheap fares around USD30 excluding the taxes and airport fees. It's a special fare not offered the whole year round. Just register your email address to get info on their promos. Log in to their website www.cebupacificair.com.

May I tell Changi is the best airport in the World

The orchid gardens inside Changi

I think I know an important number of airports, maybe not so many in Asia and the USA, but I'm pretty suire Changi is hardly overcome by any one else. So many things to do, so many details making the passenger visit worth the time one is spending, so many beautiful shops, so many free Internet access (why is that in Europe those are disappeared??? Don't tell me it's because of "security" reason because that would also apply to so many other places), so peaceful arrangements, so many great ideas as the outside cactus and sunflower gardens....

Nice way of getting from Singapore to KL

Many tourists may be attracted by the low budget fares offered by Air Asia from Johor Bahru's Senai Airport to other parts of Malaysia. Although the fare is cheap, but the process of getting to Senai Airport is a big hassle. A taxi ride from Queen Street bus terminal to Senai Airport costs S$50. If you take the Air Asia Causeway Link Express, you have to take the bus from Kranji MRT station to City Lounge in JB (S$1), then from City Lounge take another bus to Senai Airport (RM 8). From the time you leave your hotel in downtown Singapore till the time you reach Senai Airport, it could be almost 2 hours.
If you want to travel up to Malaysia, I would recommend taking the luxury coach service, NICE which departs from the Copthorne Orchid Hotel. For around S$50, you will be taken in air-conditioned comfort right into downtown KL in about 4.5 hours. You can also take the Aeroline coach which departs from Maritime Square near the Harbourfront MRT and arrives at the Corus Hotel in KL.

Perth International Airport

There are a number of airlines that fly from Perth to Singapore.

Qantas and Singapore Airlines are the most popular but Malaysia Airlines and Royal Brunei Airlines also have very competitive prices.

We chose to fly Qantas because the flight times were the most family friendly. Departure from Perth was at lunchtime and arrived in Singapore in time for dinner.

And that's very important when you're travelling with hungry kids.

Opinions are divided, with some preferring Hong Kong's airport to Changi, but I must say I've never been to a better airport than Changi. Short walking distances to the gates, plenty of seating areas, food&beverage outlets on every corner with a large variety are the main selling points for this airport.

Adding to this, the efficieny of the airport, you can be in a cab to town within thirty minutes of disembarkation from your aircraft. Customs are quick and baggage service is incredible; your luggage is usually on the belt before you pass customs. Free internet&gaming services in the departure hall only add to the high service level.

There's a great transit hotel where you can sleep, get a massage or freshen up with a nice shower, or, if you'd like, you can take a dip in the rooftop pool. And if you're into shopping, there's plenty of shops to keep you occupied.

Changi has it all!

We had a terrible time with the airline . I booked and paid months in advance using a credit card . We were denied boarding even though we had Passports and Birth certificates and my husbands identical credit card . We had to buy another ticket on a much later flight for more money!! The airline wouldn't or couldn't do anything for us. I'll never fly with them again.

Funny on the return trip , they didn't even ask to look at our credit card ...passport was enough!!

Flying with kids to Singapore

If you plan to travel to Singapore with kids, I think Singapore Airlines is one of the best option because It has a very good personal in-flight entertainment. You can watch movies, listen to music, play games from your seat. The best thing is it's free even for Economy Class passengers !. The movies are good , they have some latest released ones. The music is also good because there are a lot of channels to choose from depending on your taste. The games are OK. The young kids will like the games and the teenages will like to watch the movies or listen to music. Otherwise how can you keep your kids entertain during the long flight !
