Fishing or angling in Singapore is a hot activity ... i guess it brings out the hunter-warrior instinct in most of the males .... Singapore is surrounded by ocean and does has its ponds and reservoirs too...
The tropical weather also makes it suitable to fish all year round when the sun is out..
Equipment:
The best place to fish is Bedok Jetty .. on East Coast Park along the ECP expressway.
Parking is best at carpark F1 and you can walk for about 10 mins to reach the jetty. Bring Rods and all you fishing gear and bait ...even without bait you can fish for your bait using a sabiki rig. Live tambans.
Camping & having a bbq in Singapore will be a rather uniquely Singaporean experience, i reckon. The national parks board in Singapore have opened up several parks for overnight camping (without having to apply for a permit)
* Changi Beach Park
* East Coast Park
* Pasir Ris Park
* Sembawang Park
* West Coast Park
* Noordin and Mamam Beaches at Pulau Ubin
If you'd like Barbecuing, there are pits by the beach/in the Parks that you can use.
The charges range from sgd$12-sgd$20 for the rental of the pit.
it is an offence to use BBQ pits without a permit.
East Coast Park
Pasir Ris Park
Changi Beach Park
Labrador Park
Punggol Park
Sembawang Park
West Coast Park
Equipment:
Bring your own tents if you're camping & your own charcoal if you're barbecuing.
There are several places you can visit if you're acquiring more camping gear.
Ask the locals for the Beach Road, Army Market. Go to the top level where there are stalls selling all sorts of outdoor stuff and camping equipment.
Palau Ubin is a small island that has the memories of Singapore in the early 60s and 70s. The small island is great for nature walk and biking. To get there, U have to take a bus to Changi village bus terminal. There is no direct MRT service to there at the moment. Less then 100meter away from the bus terminal at the corner is the jetty. Take the bum boat , cost $2 per head. Upon reaching the jetty of the island, there are many shop houses that rent bicycles ranging from $3 to $10 for a whole day. If u are adventures enough, go for the nature walk around the island. u can ask for a map at the reception/ information counter or get a map from the bicycle shop. weekends is especially crowded with families and young people getting some fresh air out from the city life. the boat operates until Nite time and do try to get out of the island by evening time. U may want to camp there if u want as some beaches has toilets facilites. A few grocery shop is located at the jetty area too.
Equipment:
Bring along water, mosquito repellants,
In most park around the island, you can reserve a spot and camp there for the night. The parks are open 24 hours and are pretty safe. I particularly like Changi Beach and Pasir Rais Park. Always lots of people and many many restaurants and bars
Equipment:
Bring your tent !
