Changi Airport, Singapore
One of the businest in the world, Changi Airport seems the focal point for East Asia or the Eastern World
In case you need a smoke, Ask for Sunflower Garden.
It is on the upper level, next to some movie watching Arena.
Changi Airport is A Things to do Tip too due to it's sheer size and lots to do Activities Inside so when you're having a long lay over at Singapore's Changi Airport, ENJOY! This Ultra Modern Hub of Singapore was the former Largest Airport in Asia but is now Overtaken by the Modern Beijing Airport and the Dubai International Airport in Sheer Size that it is the third largest Airport in the World. The Airport is located about 20km (13 miles) northeast of the Downtown Singapore. Besides being the Main Hub of Flag carrier Singapore Airlines, it is also the maind hubs of Singapore Airlines Cargo, SilkAir, Tiger Airways, Jetstar Asia Airways, Valuair, and Jett8 Airlines Cargo. It is a hub for Garuda Indonesia and a secondary hub for Qantas, which uses Singapore as the main stopover point for flights on the Kangaroo Route between Australia and Europe. Changi Airport currently has five terminals. Terminals 1, 2 and 3 are directly connected with a common transit area and has it's own budget air carrier Terminal for Budget Carriers. Inside the terminal are expansive areas for dining, duty free shopping, shops, spas and other modern conveniences such as it is really worth a nice experience to have a long layover here.
there are three terminals-- T1,T2 AND T3 at the Changi airport. There are many shops, restraurants, spas, massage centres and money changers at all the three terminals. However one of the terminals,in turn has free massage chairs/foot massagers. You just have to sit and press a button and you would be given a free massage!check with the enquiry desk as to where this is located.
The shopping options are extensive. You could buy perfumes, tea, chinese medicines, clothes of every leading brand, watches, leather, fashion jewellery, soveniers, chocolates, orchids, books, toys, electronics and the list goes on!
The stores selling exclusive local costumes(like the dress that the singapore airline staff wear) are of good quality and worth the price.so too are the tops and chinese style clothing there.Of course all the shopping is duty free.
You could also spend sometime in the spas there and get massages done.
There is free internet access ,apart from the t.vs in many places.
It is a good place to change foreign currency, because they do not charge any commission and are willing to do any amount of conversion,no matter how small the change maybe.I have not found this in other airports of the world.
In case you have some time in between flights at the changi airport, you could make good use of it.They have a free bus ride into the city(however no stops or getting down anywhere)to do a city tour. However you would be required to show your passport and your ticket, and only if there is ample time before the departure of your flight, you would be allowed on this tour.Make sure you register as soon as you land ,for this is given on a first come, first serve basis.
There are specific counters that are marked or you could approach the enquiry desk located at various places all over the airport.
Having plenty of time at Changi airport is no problem - it's such a great place I reckon you could happily live there!
We went to have reflexology and then an upper body massage for my beloved and a pedicure for me. What a wonderful way to prepare for a long flight. We were in an oasis of calm and in a very different world from the travellers rishing past on the moving walkway outside the window. Not too expensive either, highly recommended!
Changi international airport is almost an attraction in itself, with plenty of shopping and places to eat and drink, as well as a transit hotel, gym etc.
This is a picture from inside the terminal itself.
I would lie if I said I have been in Singapore, my son and just spent a couple of hours at the airport on our way from Malaysia to Africa. An impressive airport, but we agreed that the one in Kuala Lumpur was better. Both of them have driverless shuttle trains, so guess what we did while we were waiting for our Johannesburg flight :-)
If you flly to Singapore, this will be your first impression of Singapore!
Yes, Chnagi AIrport is one of the place to hang out.. especially at night when you just want to sit, relax and chat with good ambience and reasonable price coffee which opens 24hrs.
