This is a very unique fountain and really a very beautiful one. This fountain is based on a Hindu Mandala which means has a symbolic meaning of harmony and unity amongst the four races of Singapore. Many people come to touch the waters for luck and I was even told we should walk around the centre 6 times. I only visited here in the day and I was told at night they have a laser and sounds extravaganza which must be really great.
Built in 1995, the "Fountain of Wealth" we had seen on previous trips to Singapore, but never at night-time.
It is located at Suntec City which is a big shopping complex.
In 1998, it was the largest Fountain in the World,.
It doesn't operate all day long, so you may be able to walk around a mini fountain at the centre of the fountain's base three times, touching the water at all times for good luck.
The bronze ring of the fountain, symbolizes the equality and harmony of all races and religions in Singapore. Water is known as the symbol of life and wealth in Chinese culture, and the inward motion of the water symbolises the retention of wealth for Suntec City. According to feng shui experts, the water flowing inwards represents riches pouring in, thus the name Fountain of Wealth.
At night, the fountain is the setting for laser performances, as well as live song and laser message dedications between 8pm to 9pm daily.
We sat and watched the colour and laser show from the top of the Fountain, and then we went down the escalator to the base of the fountain to watch from there. The circular ring at the top of the fountain is visible at ground level.
Do you watch the "Amazing Race?" I do, and in episode 3 The Amazing Race 3 in 2002, the contestants collected a clue at the fountain.
Standing at a height of nearly 14meters, it is one of the largest fountain in the world.
At the basement of Suntec City, is a mammoth circular fountain built on principles of good chi (positive energy) on Chinese fengshui (geomancy).
According to the written guidelines, go round 3 times in counter clockwise direction and putting your palms into the small fountain of water.
The big fountain is not turned on all the time. Check operating time.
Also there is a photo counter there to ensure you can a great picture. Payable of course.
Fountain of wealth is the biggest fountain in the world!! They have a lazer show every night and there is also a chance to walk around the fountain and follow the instructions it is suposed to bring you wealth...when we did it maybe by chance three of us had payrises after we got home and one of us changed jobs into a better paying job....worth a try!!!
Come look at the Fountain of Wealth. It is the biggest fountain in the world. It looks stunning at night with the lights on. You can either view it from the basement floor or ground level. There is also a short laser show.
The Fountain of Wealth is the world's largest fountain, located at the commercial complex of Suntec City in Singapore. Four 45 storey office towers represent the fingers and the Singapore International Convention Centre represents the thumb. In the 'palm' of the hand is circumscribed a precious 'ring' with the Fountain of Wealth, from which fortune is believed to flow. The fountain is made of bronze with a circular ring of 21 meters in diameter and base area of 1,683 square metres. Based on Feng Shui principles (water being one of the most powerful elements of nature, a source of energy, symbol of wealth and good fortune, especially to the Chinese), the Fountain of Wealth was built at a cost of
S$ 6 million.
According to feng shui principles,
? The fountain radiates with strong positive energy, caused by the presence of powerful negative ions.
? The inward flowing waters symbolize the retention of wealth and good luck.
? The waters cascading from a height of over 14 m creates a magnetic aura.
? The water jet, spurting to a height of 30m symbolizes the achievement of new heights.
Most of the fountain is underground and is visible from the basement main restaurant area of Suntec City, though the top of the fountain is visible from road level. During periods when the pattern of water flow is low, visitors are invited to walk around the fountain for good luck. At night, the fountain is the setting for a small laser show from 8 - 10 pm.
Feng Shui is very important in Asia. The shopping center, Suntec City was built on these principles. If you go to the Fountain Wealth-just look around the buildings around you. They are shaped like fingers. You will see the shorter thumb and the taller fingers. The fountain brings prosperity. It's supposed to be in the middle of the hand-so that way the wealth doesn't run off-it's contained in the hand. Also, this is the world's largest fountain.
Supposedly, at certain times-they lower the larger fountain and you can circle the smaller fountain below. If you do this three or four times clockwise ( i think)-it's supposed to bring you wealth. I did it a year ago and i haven't seen any difference in my bank statements-but you may luck out.
On the bottom part of the mall surrounding the fountain-there are lots of restaurants. At night, they play music and they have lasers that write dedications onto the fountain.
The fountain of wealth at Suntec City is the world's largets fountain.
Quoting Guiness World Recors:
The world's largest fountain is the Suntec City Fountain of Wealth in Singapore. Made of cast bronze, it covers a total area of 1,683.07 sq m (18,117 sq ft) and cost an estimated US$6 million to build in 1997.
When it's not in full use it's instead giving good luck to those who follow the instructions:
* Stretch out your right hand and touch the water
* Make a silent wish
* Walk around the fountain three times in clockwise direction
Be dazzled by the 3-D laser, light, sound and colour extravaganza at Suntec City's Fountain of Wealth. Don't forget to touch the water for some good luck.
In the middle of the 5 Suntec Tower you can find Fountain of Wealth, which is supposed to be the world's largest fountain. It's a nice place to take pictures.
