Maybe I should Place my Tip into the Tourist Trap Section hehe because this place is the most expensive place to shop in Singapore. On A Revisit, I have seen that much has changed in orchard Road for the Better. If Hong Kong has Nathan Road and New York has Fifth Avenue, Singapore has Orchard Road. Orchard Road is named after the nutmeg orchards that used to line it in the 1830s, one of them coincidentally belonging to a Mr Orchard. The central shopping area is concentrated on Orchard Road. It rivals all other areas in terms of sheer volume, quality, and choice. Many of its shopping centers are filled with a variety of products from around the world. Most malls carry the concept of "everything under one roof" mentality (catering to all economic markets) Virtually everything that is desired can be found in these shopping centers. For Sheer luxury, try the Ngee Ann City/Takashimaya Shopping Centre and Paragon Mall! (I've never said that I am a budget tourist).

For Singapore there are places in Orchard itself where you can have great food and shopping.

Easter Sunday shoppers in Orchard Road Singapore

Just take a look at the walkers and shoppers on Orchard Road on Easter Sunday. Photo taken near CK Tang's and Marriott Hotel heading towards the Lucky Plaza for an early morning breakfast in the basement where the foodcourt is located.
Get a laksa or a fishball noodle soup in one of the stalls and despite the queue, its well worth a visit (see second photo.)

    Shoppppping! Eating

by seyerbnod Written May 28, 2006

For my fellow countrymen dont forget to visit Luck Plaza, You will easily feel at home the moment you step in the stairs on the main entrance. You'll se advertisements in Filipino, shops and restaurants inside.

For everyone Orchard Road is the place to be when it comes to shopping.

    Shopping galore!!

by xxangelxx Written Dec 29, 2004

Full of designer stores and also affordable malls and department stores. You can easily spend a whole day at least wandering up and down Orchard Road. Last time I visited (August 2004) there was a great open air eating place on down the road, with marvellous Chinese and Malay food, but I think it may be closing down now as it was only open for a limited time as an exhibition of the fine cuisine Singapore has to offer.

Very easy to get to by taxi or MRT. A nice place to visit in the evening if you don't want to spend too long here. If you're a shopaholic with extravagant taste, then make sure you're wearing comfortable shoes!!

Shopping, shopping, and more shopping. Orchard Road is where the designer brands are. Check out the malls: Ngee Ann City, The Paragon, Tangs Plaza, etc.
