Besides Padang there is a memorial of Azad Hind Fauz (Indian National Army) which was formed by Indian freedom fighter Subhash Chandra Bose by gathering/freeing Indian prisoners of war during 2nd World War to fight against British. He had an ambitious plan of invading India from outside which was then occupied by British. He drew his inspiration from another visionary freedom fighter Svatantraveer Savarkar. In Singapore Indian National Army fought along with Japanese inorder to free Singapore from British. If you are an Indian, Pakistani or Bangladeshi you should definitely pay tribute by visiting this memorial and saluting the lost heroes who gave us our freedom back. For me and my wife both got a bit sentimental as we visited this place.
Once you cross the Indian National Army memorial you approach Elizabeth Walk. It’s a beautiful place in the evening with greenery and flowers all around. Park is very well maintained.

On the other side of Padang you have beautiful St. Andrew's Cathedral. It reflects Singapore's British colonial history. It was built in 1835 - 1842. Legends say there were unhappy spirits because of which the cathedral was struck twice by lightening in 1845 and 1849. It was then closed in 1852 and then was demolished in 1855. After its reconstruction it again began its service in 1861. Today it is considered as one of the national monument of Singapore

The Padang ground in Singapore is basically a cricket ground. It is located in the central downtown. It is an excellent place to take a walk in the evening. From Padang you can see Esplanade Theatres, Esplanade area, War Memorial Park, Old Supreme Court building, City Hall and Merlion Park. All these places are located within 2 mins of walkable distance from each other. You can spend good 3 - 4hrs here. Best time to visit this park is at 4pm. You can get down at City Hall MRT station and start your walk from St. Andrews Cathedral - Padang - War Memorial -Indian National Army Memorial - Elizabeth Walk - Merlion Park via Anderson Bridge. Once you are done with your photography at Merlion Park there are lots of restaurants in the area. These restaurants are facing the bay. After your walk you can sip a beer or have a coffee with some good sandwiches. Post sunset ambience in this area is really good. Don’t you worry about walking as the stretch (From St. Andrew's Cathedral to Merlion Park) might be less than a kilometer. You actually spend 3-4hrs for clicking snaps and enjoying the walk as you keep on stopping at various spots to take a view of the landscape. Kids would love the walk.
