Sentosa Island is definately a must see in Singapore, with its amazing light shows its fantastic. It is definately worth spending a day there to see everything, but if you only have a short amount of time availible, then you are best to go at night time and see the show

    Theme parks!

by phillarkins Written Feb 24, 2006

this is a major tourist spot of Singapore. It has many attractions including Underwater world, Dolphin Lagoon, Sky tower and the images of Singapore. To get there catch MRT to Harbour Town. From here it is highly recommended to catch the Cable Car at a cost of $11.00 SGD (return) it gives you amazing views of Singapore. There is a cheaper option of getting the bus across. Each attraction has its own entrance fee and it is usually around $20.00 SGD. It is a giant theme park and if that is your thing then go for it. Be aware that it does cost a fair bit to spend the day and one thing that can cut costs is to buy a bulk ticket that gets you into most attractions.

    How to enjoy SENTOSA ISLAND

    Sentosa Cable Car

Sentosa, which means tranquility in Malay, is a popular island resort in Singapore, visited by some two million people a year. A major tourist attraction, it hosts a sheltered beach of more than two kilometres in length on its southern coast, a musical fountain which uses the interaction of lasers against water particles to create three-dimensional images, and historical fortifications in Fort Siloso, dating from World War II. The Carlsberg Sky Tower is the tallest free-standing observation tower in Asia. It gives you one a 360 degree view of Sentosa, Singapore and the Southern Islands. The Sky Tower is situated in the Imbiah Lookout zone in the centre of Sentosa and can be reached by Cable Car, Sentosa Luge Chair Lift or by bus.

For you to enjoy sentosa, I would recommend you start your trip either from Mount Faber or Harbour Front by taking a cable car. Once You're there you may be able to go to many attractions. I suggest you must see UnderWaterWorld, Images Of Singapore(wax museum illustrating the wonderful history of Singapore), Merlion Statue(best for picture taking), Volcano Land(feel the heat... one of the best), and to relax yourself go take a watch for the Musical FOuntain show. For nature tripping, take a walk on the Sentosa Orchid Gardens, Dragon Tail and one of the best is Lost Civilisation and Ruined City. The Dolphin Lagoon is home to some Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins where visitors can observe them in the water.

Getting around Sentosa is easy... There are frequent Sentosa Bus that roam arounds and also take a monorail ride.

If you want to have a complete vacation, there are also two golf courses and two 5-star hotels in Sentosa Island.

Some parks are free of admission but attractions like under water world, images of singapore and also volcano land has a separate admission fee. I advce You take the package to avail several parks.

Everyone know Singapore is a Sunshine country. We got all the vitamin D we need, but to get the best place for a perfect tanned, I still had to said it is still Sentosa. The southernest island in Asia had the best sun location too. Even though the beach is man made, but it still made a perfect location for beach volley game. Gals remember your bikini.

A trip to Sentosa provides an interesting day's entertainment if you have the time. Take a cable car from Mt Faber, but don't bother with a glass bottomed one, you don't need it. The views are good, but there's nothing going on directly below you that you need to see. You find the cable car by going in to the office building by the side door, having followed signs from the tube station.
It rained ( a lot! ) when we were there, but there are still things to see which are indoors. I would recommend the Aquarium and the butterfly garden. We looked over the wall in to Volcanoland and decided not to bother! We also enjoyed the dolphin show. Get there early to get a good seat.

But I atleast could visit Underwater World, Cinemania, Images of Singapore, Butterfly Park & tried Cable Car. I found later zat I shoudnt hav bought Package Tour. Just get around & explore Sentosa yourself! Its very easy & fun.

Plan to spend one day here. Catch a taxi to Mt Faber. From there, you can buy tickets to catch the cable car to Sentosa Island.

We purchased the ticket package with the cable car, cinema (animated ride similar to Star Tours at Disneyland), underwater world, and butterfly park/insect kingdom. This package ticket was 56 singapore dollars each.

Also got bird encounters, musical fountain, Merlion Walk, amoungst many other activities.

    Merlion on Sentosa Island

Sentosa, which means tranquillity in Malay, is the island park that gives you a break from the city without leaving it. It hosts the largest of the Merlions with a nice walkway. Climb up the merlion and get a good look at the city and the harbour. There is also a sheltered beach of more than two kilometres in length on its southern coast, a musical fountain which uses the interaction of lasers against water particles to create three-dimensional images, and historical fortifications in Fort Siloso, dating from World War II. Also of note are the aquarium which houses dolphins, an insectarium, and a butterfly park.

Went to a butterfly park, beaches, restaurants, Undersea World. From the Carlsberg Tower you can see all around the Island and the cable car that takes you back to Singapore. Lots of man-made beaches surround the Island. Very pretty place

    Ficus Garden

Stop by at this quiet and not so touristy place by taking a monrail to the ficus station (M5) to take a look at this ficus tree and the pond.

It is just located near the Spa Botanica and Sentosa Office.

The Monorail has ceased operation on 15 Mar 2005.

You can catch the bus to this peaceful golf course.

    Sentosa Ferry Terminal

Come to Sentosa and experience the island life which is a contrast to the bustling pace to the city.

Sentoas is home to many exciting attractions, stunning manmade beach and breath taking view from Sky Tower and exciting ride on the cable car.

Take Sentosa Bus from World Trade Centre Bus Terminal or Tiong Bahru MRT.

Suggest that you take a Cable Car Ride to have a breath taking view of the city. You can take it From Mt Faber, Harbour Front and Cable Car Plaza on Sentosa.

You may like to enquire the admission ticket package for the attractions that you would like to visit.

There is a $2 admission charge if u just walk on foot across the bridge to the island.

The monorail has ceased its operation on 15 Mar 2005.

One thing that every traveller must do when in Singapore is go Sentosa Island. This island is touristy, but is a must!!

There are many ways to get there, via boat, which I am sure is lovely, or by road, as there is a bridge connecting the mainland and the island. BUT the best way to get there by far is cable car, as the view is amazing!! I have never seen water that was so beautiful, fair enough you can see this from a boat, but the colour is distorted from the backwash against the boat! Maybe I'm just being biased but I would recommend taking the cable car, unless you are scared off heights, as its a glass bottom carriage!!

When booking a tour, you should ensure that Underwater World is included. Coming from London, I never see marine sea life, except for on TV!! So I was very impressed!! We just missed watching the sharks being fed, but they are fed twice a day, so maybe, if you are interested, you could see this. This place is special because of the layout. You literally stand on a conveyor belt that takes you around the aquarium, at a leisurely pace. Its truly amazing!!

I saw an informative 'show' about Singaporean civilisation whilst on Sentosa Island, and also walked around the gardens, which was quite relaxing!!

After our tour had officially ended, we didn't feel like leaving, so we took the Monorail on Sentosa to the beach. The beach was absolutely gorgeous, however, a local informed me that it was completely artificial, as the sand had been imported from Indonesia!! Nonetheless, the pure white sand and beautiful coloured water beats the sea-weed filled beaches in England, that’s for sure!!
