Situated within 40 hectares of lush secondary forest, Night Safari prides itself on re-creating the natural environment for the nocturnal animals it shows, and offering its visitors the unique experience of exploring wildlife in a tropical jungle at night. Through the use of subtle lighting technique, visitors are able to view over 1,000 nocturnal animals of 100 species in vast naturalistic habitats. With the Night Safari being so special, it is a top attraction for visitors from all over the world. And because of this, I often get asked on how do one get to Night Safari. With this in mind, I have prepared a travelogue decided to this and you will be able to find it under my Singapore page, or by clicking on the link provided below. Situated next to Singapore Zoo about half an hour from the city, Night Safari is the worlds only nocturnal wildlife park. Covering an area of about 40 hectares, over 130 nocturnal species can be seen going about their nightly business as you sit aboard speacial open trams. There are several walking trails that you can take to explore the park - the Fishing Cats trail, the Forest giants trail or the Leopard trail. a 'Creatures of the Night' show is performed at different times of the evening, and you can have your photo taken with an exotic creature - maybe a snake or a serval cat - for a donation to a wildlife charity. Speaking of photographs, take a tripod if you want to take pictures - flash photography is strictly forbidden so as not to disturb the animals, and you don't want to upset a white rhino now, do you?! It's a really unusual way to watch animals, seeing them in a natural setting at night - a great experience. There are several food outlets, ranging from a burger bar (BongoBurgers!) to a more formal restaurant, and if you fancy taking a fluffy Malayan Tiger home as a souvenier (a toy one, not the real thing) there is also a gift shop. Beware of the crowds however - Night Safari is one of Singapores most popular attractions, for tourists and locals alike, so it can be very busy, especially at weekends or at holiday periods. Singapore Zoo is one of the best open concept to be found anywhere and the world's first night safari is right next door. It does make for a long day to do both of these attractions but it's well worth the effort. Tip: It's mre economical to buy yourself a 3 park pass which will get you to the Singapore Zoo, Night Safari and Jurong Bird Park. I have added additional photos on a separate Singapore Travelogue. Night Safari, A world's first in Singapore (they keep inventing up things to be able to increase tourist arrivals to rival Thailand as the no.1 tourist destination in South East Asia). It is the first park in the world built particularly to be seen at night. The park is illuminated with lights, which are enough to spot the animals but not to disturb or bother them. Singapore Night Safari is open for 5 hours every night. Singapore Night Safari is covered in two stretches. One stretch includes the walking trail and the other the tram rides. There are four Walking Trails in the Singapore Night Safari which you can follow after the tram ride like the Fishing Cat Trail, which houses fishing cats, barking deer and gharials. The Tiger Trail houses leopards, loris, tarsiers and owls. The third and the best trail is the Mangrove Trail where you can see various types of flying bats. The fourth is the Forest Giants Trail is walk through the rainforests where you can spot fling lemurs, bats and snakes. The forty minute long tram ride, which is a standard before walking on the trails, has a live commentary you will get to see animals like deer, hyena, tigers, lions, capybara, giant ant-eater and covers various species from Asia, Africa and South America. The Tran ends with an Animal Show. Admission: Adult, S$ 22; Child, S$ 11 Phone: (65) 6-269-3411Directions: MRT to Ang Mo Kio Station. Then Bus No. 138 to Park entrance or Take the PIE towards Jurong. Turn off onto BKE. Exit at Exit 7. Follow the 'Singapore Night Safari' signboards.Website: http://www.zoo.com.sg/ Other Contact: www.nightsafari.com.sg/

The Night Safari is a definate 'must see' on your visit to Singapore. I am not an animal person,....to me all zoos are the same. ...But not this one. I was pleasently surprised by the Night Safari. We really enjoyed sitting in the little train and the comentary along the way. There are no barriers and you get to see the animals in the wild real close up. We heard the lions roar, the hienas were very active, the giraffs were lovely to see (so close) and I loved the otters...a right noisey family bunch :o) Leave a Comment

The Singapore Zoo has one of the finest and beautiful collection of animals in the world. You can have breakfast with the Orang Utans (Ah Meng is the popular star). The polar bears are amazing too and you can see them swiming in the deep underwater tank. The hippos are so cute u can see the mother hippo rubbing cheek to cheek with the baby hippo. Dont miss the feeding time and animal shows. I love to see the giant elephants doing their performance. Beware and dont get splashed. If u are going to the Zoo and Night Safari, take the MRT up north to Ang Mo Kio to transfer to bus 138 which takes u directly to the zoo. Hop to the Night Safari for dinner just next door) Leave a Comment

If you visit Singapore and have not seen Night Safari then you have seen nothing. It is one of the unique things you can do. Take a cab or a bus to mandai zoo and get the tickets. It is a bit expensive but worth every dime. A small train would take you around the zoo with some nice running commentary about the animals. The lighting is superb and feels more like a moonlit night than artificial light. There is no feeling of cages and the animals appear so free to roam around. You can walk also which is a better way to see the animals. Leave a Comment

You can do one of the other or both, bot attractions are literally across the road from one another, and are sold on either seperate or combined tickets. We visited the Zoo in the late afternoon, went across to the Safari and had dinner before heading out on what really did seem like a safari! I am not a big fan of zoos, but this one is amazing, the animals are all in big areas, and it feels like they are in their own habitat. The Night Safari is very cool, you can take a little train so far, then walk, and you will see all of the animals wandering about! you have to be really quiet so not to frighten them, but it feels like Africa !* Leave a Comment

The night safari is one of the best things you can do in Singapore. One activity that is definitely worthwhile is the `Creatures of the Night Show`. It`s part entertainment, part information with a shocking twist at the end (if you want to be surprised instead, don`t read the rest of this tip;-) In the show you can witness the jumping ability of pumas and the power and vision of owls among others in a series of neat interactive demonstrations. Towards the end of the presentation, a 20 foot python is drawn from the unsuspecting audience (in a long trunk under the seats). This results in very loud screaming, panic or laughter, depending on how you feel about snakes (for those that want to know, it`s about ten rows back, just to the left of the center if you`re facing the ampitheatre). If you stay after the show, the friendly staff will let you hold some of the animals in the show (The best time to go is after the last show in my opinion, it is far less rushed....) . It runs at 8pm, 9pm and 10pm daily an lasts just under an hour.
