The night safari is one of Singapore's top attractions. Everyone seems to love zoos. See the cute animals and such. Well what makes this place so popular-is the creativity to do something like this at night. It's nice that there is a night attraction in which you can enjoy a walk around the place without getting very sweaty and worried about the sun.

As you enter the park-there is an animal theater-where they have small shows. There is the tram ride, which is great-since it takes you into areas where you can't go on the trails. After you are done with the tram-walk the various trails. They designed the trails in such a way-that you see new things.

Each time we go, we see something different. Well, except for the Nepalese mountain goats-which is the first thing you see on the tram. My husband swears that they are placed there or are robots. The elephants are always fun to see.

But the best thing about the night safari is the bat room. It's a large aviary for fruit bats. It you are scared of bats-don't come into the room. But if you think they are cute, like me-then this a must. These bats are Harmless!!!
They spend most their time eating pieces of durian and jackfruit and hanging around. Some fly around.

The food here is mediocre. You should eat before you get here. There are two stops on the tram. The second stop-they have drinks and refreshments. Besides soda and water. They have beer and mixed drinks.

An attraction that everyone can enjoy.

Going on the night safari was one of my most memorable moments in SIngapore!!

As I was waaay too young to go clubbing or barring, night times were usually boring for me and my family. Also, a lot of the sights we wanted to see, we saw during the day, but this place was absolutely perfect! I mean I personaly don't know any other countries who have this...I'm sure there are but I am very impressed!! (Please tell me if this is a common thing...I've recently foun out I'm quite naive!!)

There are different ways that you can see animals at this place. There is a tour that can be taken in a tram or, for the braver people, there are allocated pathways to trek on foot. I didn't take this option as I thought, knowing my luck, I would run into a snake or something soimilar, and scream the place down!! Obviously that is not possible but the insecurity remained!

I had never been that close to wild animals without glass or tall fencing between us. It was soooooooo amazing!

The gift shop was lovely too, selling all sorts of goodies - stuffed teddies, little models, and just the usual stuff they sell but the layout was totally cool!!

I would recommend this to everyone, it is safe for children, there are facilities for wheelchairs and pushchairs, as its under the stars it can be romantic...infact, I'm going to pack my bags and go there now!

MWAH!

During the elephant and sealion show @ Singapore Zoo, I volunteered for the show without even knowing what I am volunteering for. I was really excited because I was the one chosen to volunteer inspite of all the other excited hands raised. Eventually, I found out that I am going to be kissed by an elephant! :) Hehe! You'll never know what you're goin' to get until you try!

This is the world's premier night zoo. The twilight holds many surprises ... and more so at Night Safari, where you can look a rhinocerous in the eye or hear the howls of a pack of striped hyenas. There are over 1,200 animals of over 110 exotic species to watch out for. The animals are in 8 zones that recreate various geographic regions like the Southeast Asian rainforest, African savanna, Nepalese river valley, South American pampas and Burmese jungle.

Strike out on your own along the walking trail or relax in a tram ride - whichever you choose, Night Safari is a wild adventure not to be missed.

The Singapore Zoological Gardens is acclaimed as one of the world's most spectacular zoos. The use of natural barriers like streams, rock walls and vegetation to separate animals from visitors enhances the "open" zoo concept. Spreading over 28 hectares, it is home to over 3,600 mammals, birds and reptiles, including rare and endangered species. The Zoo's orang utan breeding programme has created a large community of these gentle, endangered species.

The breeding programme has also witnessed the first tropical birth of a polar bear. Other endangered species like the Malayan tiger, the white rhino, proboscis monkey, komodo dragon and the sealion have also found a haven in the zoo. A highlight is the Fragile Forest - an exciting and educational display of ecosystems and rainforest culture.

The Hamadryas Baboons - The Great Rift Valley : Ethiopia showcases the ecosystem typical of the savanna climatic zone in Ethiopia. The area is landscaped to include a multitude of habitats for a wide range of animals, rock formations and tribal villages. The exhibit is home to the rock hyrax, the banded mongoose, the black backed jackal and 50 hamadryas baboons.

A regular tram service that covers the entire Zoo offers an excellent overview of the attractions. The commentary provides useful information. However, to fully appreciate the zoo, the tram introduction should be complemented by a walking tour.

Winner of the Tourism Awards 2001, 1998, 1993, 1992, 1991 - Leisure Attraction of the Year.

Proof I was there!

“See the animals in their natural habitats…at night, when they are really active and hungry!!!!”
It sounded pretty cool, so we arranged a trip through our hotel. We were picked up at the hotel, picked up a few other people along the way and headed to the Zoo. We had a guide on the small bus along the way and she gave us a pretty good overview of what was going to happen and what we were (hopefully!) going to see.
As per Singaporean law, it was 90 degrees with 100% humidity! But at least it was dark, so that made it “seem” cooler. After entering the zoo, we all boarded trams which took us along the trials. We didn’t see too many exotic animals, mostly deer and other smaller, safe, animals, but what we saw was not afraid of the humans and their trains. The lighting is set up so that while you can see the animals, it isn’t bright enough to look like daytime. It really is a cool effect. Also, you are able to hop off at a couple of points and walk around the (dimly) lit trails and see stuff up close.
The best animals were the leopard, which were able to be 1 foot away from...but behind safe glass, and the bat cage. Giant bats were hanging upside-down and you had to walk around them to get throught their cage. The wife was not happy about that, but then they were huge bats and not behind any barriers.

Many many nocturnal animals, some of which I never even knew existed! Large ones too, all in a natural habitat. I took the tram ride / walk through combination.

The night safari closes at midnight. I spent about 2 hours there.

Fascinating. Definitely worth the S$18 entrance fee.
