After visiting Merlion Park or Esplanade, take a short walk and pass by Raffles statue (Singapore's founder) in front of Victoria Hall.Beside is the Supreme Court Bldg. Then, you can alson see nearby the Cricket club and the City Hall.Afterwhich, you can cross to Raffles shopping mall and satisfy your hunger at the basement food court.

One of the more iconic buildings in Singapore, the City Hall is a location where some wedding couples will head to for their photo session. Built in 1929, the building has a strong historical significance. It was at these very steps that the Japanese surrendered to the British. This marked the end of World War II for Singapore.
It also saw the first ever National Day celebration in 1966 where the steps were demarcated as a VIP seating area. The seating area provided a good view of the parade that was held at the Padang, or the field in front of the City Hall.

This is City Hall. The domed building next to it is the Supreme Court. The grounds in front of these two buildings (the grass on the left of the picture) is the Padang. During the Japanese occupation during World War II, the British and others were taken prisoner and forced to march in the hot sun from the Padang to Changi prison (which is quite a long walk of perhaps 7 miles or 11 km). Later, when the Japanese surrendered, they were forced to make a short march past the Padang.
The reason I saw the outside of City Hall was because it is very closed to a lot of sites. From the City Hall MRT, St. Andrew’s Cathedral, City Hall, Supreme Court, Civilian War Memorial can be seen as well as the Esplanade across the Padang.

Singapore's Supreme Court, located across from the Singapore Cricket Club and next to City Hall, was built in 1939. The buidling design is modeled after Corinthian architecture (One of the three forms of vintage Greek architecture). Visitors are welcomed to attend all court hearings unless said otherwise. Inside you can find exhibits on the courts history and on it's inner workings.
A powerful building that is hard to take your eyes off. A lot of fun to photograph and a must see while in Singapore.
