    Underwater World Singapore

by snuggie Written Feb 17, 2006

The underwater World is situated on Sentosa Island (a state-of-the-art leisure and educational attraction) showcasing the rich variety of marine life to be found around the region, with educational and recreational activities available here.

Visitors can start their journey passing brightly coloured corals and all kinds of exotic ocean-dwellers along the way and finally arrive at a spectacular 83m long acrylic tunnel, home to great shoals of fish, prowling predators and a host of other creatures that inhabit the ocean depths.

    Tunnel in Underwater World
    2 more images

You will enjoy the Underwater world if you like sea creatures (seahorse, jellyfish) and fish. The highlight was the glass tunnel and sea horse exhibit. You could spend a couple of hours here. But, we ended up spending about 30 minutes or so to walk through the entire aquarium.

Quite small but very interesting - lots of sea creatures to look at...there are also opportunities to feed turtles and swim with sharks, among other things, but I think you need to book ahead for that.

Try to avoid going there in a weekend, as it is crowded!

    Underwater world at Sentosa Island

by xtephen Written May 1, 2005

I would highly recommend underwater world at Sentosa island. It gives you a view of aqautic life that you have never seen before. You are in a tunnel, underneath a large aquarium. The fish, sharks, & other animals will swim just inches above you!

I will warn you that it is relatively expensive. I believe it was about $24 Singapore dollars. (thats about $16 US dollars)

    Me and a big fish

The Underwater World oceanium is one of the many attractions to visit on the Sentosa island just outside Singapore. Here you can watch over 250 different water living animals.

The best of the Underwater World is to walk thorough the aquarium, with all different fishes surrounding you.

the people mover under the sea

This is Singapore's mini aquarium. I guess it does a good job. There is something for everyone, even though the admission price is steep. In the front of the building -they have a section, where you can touch the fish inside the small tank. The kids think this great, while the fish look quite scared.

The highlight of this place is the tube like aquarium-that you pass under and around it by peoplemover. It's a clever system. Also keeps people moving. Fish swim above and around you. Cool with sharks.

Also, if you have scuba certification-you can dive here.

I really enjoyed the jellyfish tanks.

    Mimicry

Once you're in Sentosa, you can just not skip the Underwater World, specially if you dont dive or snorkle at all... its your chance to see the fishes and others that you didnt know they existed before.

Went there on late Saturday afternoon, the place got quite crowded. It may be better if you go there late morning or early afternoon.

The ticket is 17 something SGD and this price includes the Dolphin show.

    At the Aquarium

They market this place as the biggest aquarium in South East Asia, Im not sure if this is true or not, but I do know that its well worth the visit!!

You can get in and swim with the fish here, and there is a huge tunnel that you walk under with the fishes swimming above you!

Its amazing....even though its a little touristy!*

from here i got to learn how to differentiate male shark and female shark. there i was yelling "oh...this is the male shark, there... there is the female." in fact i was busy pointing and shouting at each shark whenever they swim above my head in the tunnel. i guess i'm not too old to learn...
