At Palawan Beach, catch the daily show of the animals and birds at the Palawan Amphitheater and be delighted by their tricks and antics. After the show, visitors are allowed to come close and interact with the animals. Admission is free.

If you opt to visit Singapore with friends and family then you may want to go to the Birdpark, Zoo and Night Safari. There is a combined ticket available which gives you admission to all free parks. The ticket without trams inside the parks is about 40 SGD.
The Zoo and Night Safari are next to each other. The Birdpark is far away from them.
There is always something going on at the Zoo like Elephant washing or Crocodile feeding.

It is a separate zoo from the day zoo but located next door. The great thing is that at night, the temperature is much cooler. Most tour packages time their visit to see either the first or second animal shows. This is an extra cost to the admission ticket but worth it.
With special lighting and a tram ride, you will go through special enclosures to come close to the Malayan tapirs (black and white in color, cow size ancient browsers). The sound of the jungles also come alive in the darkness. Trams will take you to various locations of zoo for you to explore further.
An unforgetable night experience of the wild wild nature.
You can buy a combo of Day Zoo and Night Safari for S$28 for adult instead of usual S$35. It is S$14 instead S$17.50

One of the my favorite places is Singapore Day Zoo. Best to go on a weekday morning when everyone is working or asleep. You can have all the place to yourself and see the animals close and near due to the absence of cages replaced by deep trenches.
Take the tram and stop at the various spots of interest including the Komodo giant lizard. Check out the feeding time. There are various shows and elephant rides.
Reputed to be one of the best zoos in the world and having been to many zoos worldwide, I agree. Cost can be pricey and so look out for special packages, corporate discounts or any seasonal offer from Singapore Tourist Information Office.
It is also distance from downtown Singapore. But easily reached by Zoo bus, taxi, self-drive or combination of buses and MRT.
Spend at least half a day to get value for money.

It's a zoo which opens at 7pm, when the dark sets in! The nightanimals come out to play, and Nightsafari invites you along to spot them. You can either ride the guided tour train, or walk around the park on your own. A great experience. This is part of the Singapore Zoo, and many of the animals roam freely through the park. For the 'caged' animals, they have a huge area of land simulating their natural habitat.

This is the world first night zoo. Try to be there at about 7pm as the period of time is the best to catch the animals when they are in their most alert state. Catching the animal show is also a must as it liven up the stay. You can choose to take a tram to go round the park. It will take you about 45mins. But I prefer to walk as you can observe the animals at you own pace. The entrance is SGD20 for adults and SGD 10 children (3 - 12 years). The tram ride is SGD8 for adults and SGD4 for children.

I have been to many zoos, reserves and safaris but this is one of the more organised one and with a good variety of animals. If you are bringing your kids, bring extra change for the Children's World. There is a playground with fountains and water guns..a must-go especially when the weather is hot and humid. Have a map with you and plan your itinerary to coincide with the animals shows and feeding times. You can either walk or take the tram round the zoo. There is also a picnic ground for you to see around to enjoy your lunch facing the resevoir. The entrance fee with tram rides is SGD19 for adult and SGD9.50 for kids. You can also try to purchase double parks passes at a cheaper rate. Please check with the counter.

from Orchard road take MRT to stop NS16 then bus 138. Takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes and cost is around $2.50 SGD. A taxi ride for the similar trip is $15.00 SGD. The Zoo opens at 8:30 am; we arrived early and were able to book in for Jungle breakfast for a cost of $18.00 SGD per person. I highly recommend this experience it is amazing, I would even recommend booking in before you arrive to ensure you get a table. The food is fantastic and has a wide variety so you will find something you like. The highlight however is the animals that are brought out to dine with you. An otter and snake make a brief appearance but the star is the orang-utan. The opportunity to take photos with the animals is unique and a really fun time. The shows that appear through out the zoo at different times are all of high quality and really enjoyable. It is a fantastic way to spend the day.

Zoo closes at around 12:00am but be aware last train leaves 11:30 pm. This is nothing more flash than a normal zoo but obviously at night. I found the zoo fairly disappointing. It can be extremely crowded and the cost of food is very high. I would recommend saving money and time and do the Singapore Day Zoo.
