The EZ Link now charges a non refundable $5 SGD that you do not get back.
The total card cost is $15 SGD.
Though it's very convenient, not to constantly get a new card and that you get a discount when you use it. Compared to the standard card.
You need to calculate if it's worht the money
The MRT, LRT & public bus service is excellent in Singapore. When you touch down this little island, get yourself an "ez-link" card. This cash card (the size of a credit card) will allow you to pay for MRT & bus rides. It is cheaper than paying by cash/coins everytime you take a ride and definitely more convenient.
Zap when you get on & zap again when you get off and you're done. =)
One word of caution though, you might think that you can escape paying the fare if you don't zap on the way out of the bus. What you don't know is that the minute you zap your card when you get on - is that your card is charged the MAXIMUM fee for the bus ride and when you get off, which is when you zap out - the system will pay back the money which is remaining from the "extra" charge of your ride.
You can purchase these cards at any MRT stations or main bus interchange.
An all-in-one card useful to have by your side. You can take the bus and trains with this card. Just tap and go!
