Opinions are divided, with some preferring Hong Kong's airport to Changi, but I must say I've never been to a better airport than Changi. Short walking distances to the gates, plenty of seating areas, food&beverage outlets on every corner with a large variety are the main selling points for this airport.

Adding to this, the efficieny of the airport, you can be in a cab to town within thirty minutes of disembarkation from your aircraft. Customs are quick and baggage service is incredible; your luggage is usually on the belt before you pass customs. Free internet&gaming services in the departure hall only add to the high service level.

There's a great transit hotel where you can sleep, get a massage or freshen up with a nice shower, or, if you'd like, you can take a dip in the rooftop pool. And if you're into shopping, there's plenty of shops to keep you occupied.

Changi has it all!

Taxis are not especially expensive in Singapore and a taxi from the airport into town is less than S$20.

Although there is public transport, as we had a lot of baggage to carry, we thought it excellent value.

Flight to Singapore

All major airlines are flying to Singapore. On the way to Singapore I flew Swiss from Zurich via Bangkok and on the way back I flew SAS via Bangkok and Copenhagen to Zurich. I have to say that I wasn't satisfied with both flights and therefore would choose SIA next time.

Taxi from/to the airport

Taxi in Downtown

Taking the taxi from the airport to downtow is the fastest and most convenient way.
Price depends very much on the traffic. The cheapest fare I've ever go was 16 S$.

On the way from the airport, the driver may ask which way you prefer. As you probably don't know, he will take the longer and therefore most expensiv one. But it is still cheap. Don't worry.

On the way to the airport, don't forget to mention which terminal you are taking off from.

Upon arriving at the airport, you can either catch a shuttle service for S$7.00 per person, but since it seemed that we bought all of Bangkok, they wanted us to pay for an entire shuttle just for us, if you get into this dilema just hire a private taxi....a nice and comfortable merdces-benz for S$35 up to 3 people....we needed the front seat for bags. The drive from the airport into the city was one of the most plesant drives into any city I have ever taken anywhere in the world !!!!! Oh and the taxi took credit cards which was a nice touch since we hadn't exchanged any money yet !!!!! well worth it !!!!! ARRIVE IN COMFORT AND SYTLE !!!!!!

A huge, efficient airport with plenty to do.
I had to go thru on 3 occasions, but didnt feel the drag.
Changi has often been voted as the best airport in the world, by different travel magazines and other associations.
Work started on this airport way back in 1975, and it commenced operations in 1981. Its been several phases of additions and upgradations to what constitutes the structure that stands now...

Its nice arriving Singapore without having worries of getting a transport from the airport to hotel. With Singapore Airlines they have a bus -- dropping you off to your hotel. One warning: just make sure you can carry your bags coz the driver is quite hesitant in assisting you bringing in your stuffs.

Borrowed from Airport Website

Definitely the most friendly and welcoming airport I visited on my trip was Changi. That says alot, seeing that I arrived at 2 AM. The MRT doesn't start working until 5:30, so I had some time to kill in the airport. Equiped with free internet and video games inside the passenger terminal and a Starbucks outside... lets just say if you give me coffee and video games and I am a happy man. The immigration personel reminded me of meeting a long lost friend they were so nice and happy.

The shopping is excellent, and the airport itself follows the route of Singapore in being about as cleanas you can get.

Changi MRT link

Changi Airport lived up to its reputation as modern and efficient, especially its link to the MRT subway system. Definitely one of the best airports in the world.

If you have an early morning flight like I did, you can sleep at the airport---the chairs are uncomfortable though, try the floor or a booth at one of the airport eateries.
