    Walking around

If you can stand the heat, the traffic and the noise, Singapore is actually quite a walkable city. It's safe, even at night, it's lush green and tropical, flowers abound, and at night it's not too bad. Ok, the air-conditioned MRT is better, but it doesn't always run the way you're headed. I walked a lot when I was there, maybe that was because I stayed in Little India, in walking distance from both Chinatown and Orchard Rd. A small tip: If you know which side of the street you should be on, or which turn you should take, some blocks ahead, try crossing to that side as soon as possible. Pedestrian overcrossings or undercrossings are not that frequent, neither are traffic light crossing, and you may end up walking up one side of the street to searching fro a point to cross and then having to walk back to where you want to be. However, I never had any trouble finding a walkway, even along busy highways.
