Two of the most famous attractions in the Singapore Botanic Gardens are the National Orchid Garden and Ginger Garden. The Vanda Miss Joaquim orchid flower is the national flower of Singapore, and it is displayed at the orchid garden together with many other natural and hybrid species of orchid flowers. Opening hours are 8.30am to 7pm daily and entrance fee is $5.00 for adults (more information is at http://www.sbg.org.sg/centralcore/nog.asp). As for the ginger garden, it displays many different species of ginger plant but I have not visited it yet (more information is at http://www.sbg.org.sg/centralcore/gingergarden.asp). I have displayed some photos of the orchid garden at the travelogue section of this VT page.

Symphony Lake (the location of this VT page) is actually one of the 3 main lakes in the Singapore Botanic Gardens and it is located at the centre of the garden near to the visitor's centre. As the name indicates, there is a symphony stage in the middle of this lake, and sometimes during weekends or at night, there will be various types of performances here. Visitors will sit on the grass surrounding the lake (just like having a picnic) and enjoy the performances.

There is a nice food reflexology path at the area of the Singapore Botanic Gardens near to Bukit Timah Road and the Eco Lake. Take off your shoes and walk along this path, it is rather painful at first but should be OK when you get used to it.
