Singapore Botanic Gardens

by mary2u99

This 52-hectare park which was founded 1859 has about 600,000 plant specimens, it is clearly one the world's largest botanical reserves. The park has many species of plants from orchid gardens to a tropical jungle. The park is open from 5am-midnight Monday to Sunday.

Fountain of Wealth

by mary2u99

This fountain is located in Suntec City Mall and is the world's largest fountain with a base area of 1,683 square metres. The ring shoots water inwards into the reservoir below while at the heart of the fountain, water shoots up to 30 metres into the air. It is a bronze ring supported on four legs, it weighs a hefty 85 tonnes. TFeng shui experts (Chinese geomancers), believe the water flowing inwards represents riches pouring in. Most local will walk to it and touch the water for good luck and prosperity. Being a tourist we also did.

Little India

by makiro

I loved this area...just to walk around, have a snack. For vegetarians there are many options in this area (see my restaurant tips). Very colorful area to take pictures, have a lunch or dinner and enjoy your day. Check out the Little India website. Colourful temples co-exist near churches and mosques, parrot fortune tellers and wonderful scents of spices wafting from restaurants.

Sentosa: 4D Magix

by y_lyn

You will be given a pair of 3D polarized glassess at entrance so that you can experience the 3D effect of the movie. With state-of-the-art technology, you can now further immerse yourself into the movie by feeling the wind in your hair, tossing about in your seat, water sprinkling at your face, tickling of your feet etc as the storyline goes. Yes.. movies really come to life. I had experienced it and it was really quite fun. This 4D magic experience is the first in Southeast Asia. As this is quite a new attraction in Sentosa, be prepared to queue for at least half an hour before you can get entrance to watch the movie. We watched the "PIRATES!" about the hilarious misadventues of Captain Lucky and his crew on their clumsy quest for treasure.Admission Fee: S$16 Adult/ S$9.50 ChildOperating hours: 10am - 9pm daily (last entry 8.30pm)Rides are available every 20-30 minutes** Look out for...

Sentosa: Cinemania

Experience the World of Virtual Reality here! You can take a simulation ride here... Be warned, you may get motion sickness. You will be treated to 2 short movies over here. I watched one about dinosaurs and the other one on roller coaster. Guess what, at the end of the show, when I was walking towards the exit, I found a set of dentures on the floor!Admission: Adult: S$12.50/ Child: S$8Operating hours: 11am - 8pm (last entry 7.30pm) Rides available every 30 mins

Raffles Hotel

by kyoub

When you visit Singapore you must go by and have a look around the world famous Raffles Hotel. The hotel has a list of impressive guests who have stayed there. It is Singapore's most expensive hotel and it underwent an extensive restoration that was completed in 1991. The hotel complex has several food outlets, designer shops, and the Jubilee Hall Theatre Playhouse. Stop at the bar for a Singapore Sling gin cocktail before you leave.

Crazy Horse

by chiabh

This Paris-based cabaret opened its door at Clarke Quay in December 2005... There are 2 shows a night with an additonal show on Saturday nights... The show last 100 mins and is a celebration of the "art of the nude" where dancers highlight the beauty of the female form with beautiful lighting, spectacular costumes and strking choreographed routines. The theatre, which can set 400 guests has a bistro and bar where patrons can enjoy dinner before or after the show...The Crazy Horse has since been closed due to lack of business...

Afternoon tea

by TonyBagnall

Several of the big hotels do afternoon tea - sandwiches (with no crusts on), cakes etc etc all washed down with lashings of tea. Delicious! We went to the one at our hotel, Goodwood Park Hotel. There was a good selection of tasty morsels. You help yourself so you can really pig out if you like. Service good although having someone pour tea for you is a strange experience (they treat it like it's a bottle of wine in a restaurant). They have a chocolate fountain, so you can dip tropical fruit straight into melted chocolate - yum!Live piano music too.
