Yueh Hai Ching Chinese temple

The oldest Taoist temple where was built in 1826 by traders and sailors for thank to the god who saved them in the sea.As the name of temple "Yueh Hai Ching" means temple of the calm sea. This temple was also a meeting place of Teochew community and it's now in the hands of Ngee Ann Kongsi.It was renovated in 1895. For architecture details,this temple's one example of Chinese tradition architecture.The roof decoration is wonderful and it's hard to find for now.Open : 6am to 6pm

A lovely way to spend a couple of hours, or maybe longer. Over 2000 species of plants thrive in these gardens.Open daily from 5am - midnight. Admission is free.Located in the Botanic Gardens is the National Orchid Garden. It is the world's largest orchid display featuring over 60,000 plants and flowers.Open daily from 8.30am - 7pm. Admission is $5 for an adult, free for children under 12. The orchid garden is beautiful. Well worth a visit.

Pay the little bit extra and go over in the glass bottom cable car. We caught it from the harbour front terminal ($16 return), it goes via Mt Faber, where you can get off for a look around. Views are great.

MERLION

This Merlion is located at Merlion Park ( 1 Fullerton Walk) at the mouth of the Singapore River, overlooking Marina Bay. The Merlion is Singapore's most famous symbol, bearing a lion's head and the body of a fish. It commemorates Singapore's ancient name, "Temasek", which means "sea town" in Javanese.It is only a short walk across the Esplanade Bridge from the Esplanade-Theatres on The Bay to reach this park. At night it looks even more spectacular, plenty of strategically placed lighting.
