Sri Veerama Kaliamman Temple

by pattayaraj

The Hindu temple in Little India where was built in 1855 and added more buildings in 1908.This temple dedicated to Kali, the goddess of Power. She 's the incarnation of Lord Siva's wife. Inside the main building housed the black Kali statue as center and beside with Ganesha, the elephant god and Murugan riding peacock statue. This temple is fascinated one especially on Tuesday and Friday as the holy days. Note that entering by barefoot only.

Abdul Gaffoor Mosque

by pattayaraj

In 1859, Indian-Muslim butcher Sharik Abdul Gaffoor Shak Hyder was constructed a wooden mosque and completed in 1910. It was rebuilt with brick and use as the main mosque of Indian Muslim in that area. The style of this mosque mixed between Moorish-Islamic and South Indian architecture. Over the entrance of mosque 's a picture of sundial with 25 rays decorated with Arabic calligraphy represented the name of 25 Prophets.Note: if you want to visit here to wear long pants, and a shirt that covers your shoulders.

GO FOR THE BEER AT RAFFLES

by xuessium

Nothing beats a cool tall cup of Tiger Beer at the Long Bar in Raffles Hotel during Happy Hours, where you can take a breather from the afternoon heat, chat with friends in the cool and throw all your peanut husks onto the floor! (No fines!) Don't forget to give the world famous cocktail Singapore Sling a try. The Singapore Sling was created at Raffles Hotel at the turn-of-the-century by a Hainanese-Chinese bartender, Mr. Ngiam Tong Boon. It was originally meant as a woman's drink, hence the attractive pink colour. The ingredients included: Gin, Cherry Brandy, Pineapple Juice, Lime Juice, Cointreau, Dom Benedictine, Grenadine, A Dash of Angostura Bitters and garnishes of a slice of Pineapple and Cherry.

WALKS: Walk The Marina Bay

by xuessium

This is home to many of Singapore's recognisable sights. That hideous thing that is called the Esplanade, Theatres on the Bay is here, resembling a pair of housefly eyes or 2 durian husks. If you start from here, don't forget to drop by Glutton's Bay, a hawker centre (sort of, since it was targetted more or less at tourists) right next to the Theatres where you can grab some local dishes for lunch, dinner or a snack. Walk across Marina Bridge from the Theatres and you will find yourself at Merlion Park and One Fullerton. Cross the underground passageway and you will arrive at the grand old dame of the Fullerton. Drop in for a cup of coffee or two before proceeding upwards towards Singapore River.

WALKS: Heart of the City

by xuessium

Start from City Hall MRT station at Raffles City Shopping Mall. Cross over to CHIJMES, and see the old Methodist church that is now home to various restaurants and shops. If a wedding is taking place, you may be lucky enough to see the church tower that has been beautifully restored and is now used solely for weddings. Cross Victoria Street and you will reach the Cathedral of the Good Shephard, a brown colour church that is the most important Catholic church in Singapore. Further down the road, and you will find the Singapore Art Museum. Entry fee for adults is S$3. Drop in to see exhibits by local artists such as Liu Kang or take a break at the lovely Olio Dome cafe there. Exit from the back and you will walk past Maghain Aboth Synagogue, one of only 2 Synagogues in Singapore. You will then hit Sculpture Square (drop in to see the exhibits; entry is free) before ending up at Waterloo...

you must go for at least one ride on the MRT it is such a buzz. You buy a ticket for 2.60 then when you get off at your stop you get a refund of 1.00 it is one of the cleanest trains I have ever seen .and they are so regular .. We never had to wait more then a couple of minutes for one.

Shopping

shopping at mustafa center is one of activity. As soon as I have landed in Singapore I make my way straight to little Indian and Orchard Road. Shoppng centre like Takashimaya, the paragon, lucky plaza, centrepoint and the heeren are all located in orchard road. The book shop Kinokuniya is one of the best shop in Takashimaya as well as Louis Vitton,Chanel, Burberry, and zara on orchard road.

The Singapore Zoo

by DaDrifter

The Singapore Zoo is often hailed as one of the most beautiful zoos in world, and quite rightfully so. The zoo is set in the middle of 28 acres of a lush natural rain forest and follows the concept of an open zoo, where a moat is used to separate the animals from the visitors. The zoo also boasts of having the largest collection of primates in any zoo.

Rain Forest Magic - Night Safari

by DaDrifter

Located right next to the Singapore Zoo, is the world's first wildlife park, designed exclusively for night viewing. The park covering 40 acres of a dense forest, is home to nearly a thousand nocturnal animals. The 45 minutes tram ride through the park, takes you through a thick forest with diverse landscapes, created to simulate the natural habitat of a variety of exotic speices. You can also explore one of the three walking trails on foot - Fishing Cat, Forest Giants and Leopard trail. Each trail takes about 20 minutes. Flash photography inside the park is not permitted and it is hard to take pictures from a moving tram.
