Gardens - Chinese and Bonsai

by DaDrifter

The Chinese garden has been modeled on the Chinese imperial style of landscaping. A seven story Pagoda greets you as you enter the gardens stepping on a small white bridge. The adjoining Bonsai garden has an amazing collection of Bonsai plants imported from China. Entrance to the main garden is free. Admission to the Bonsai garden attracts a fee of S$ 2 for adults and S$ 1 for children.

Bored?? Have a Smoke

by cwhit21

While your out having a drink go ahead light one up. Smoking is everywhere. Its great entertainment when you buy a pack of smokes and some crazy picture of some guy having a smoke with floating skulls behind him. Or if you dont want to pick up smoking you can always use the pictures to as a means of tormenting your friends or others as to what will happen to them. Another good picture was some guy smiling that didnt have a very good dental plan, or brushed for that matter.

Take a Walk thru Fort Canning Park

by Travel2write

These days, Fort Canning Park is known for great views over Singapore, but in days past it served as the site of Raffles's home and the island's first botanic garden. Beautiful Park that is well taken care of, has a great historical walk that has placards throughoout the park. Also has lot's of interesting type of trees and botanicals. Greatest part, it's free unless you want to tour the Battle box!!Inside the park, The Battle Box is an old WWII bunker displaying in wax dioramas and a multimedia show the surrender of Singapore. It's open Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 6pm; adults S$8 (US$4.70), children S$5 (US$2.95);

Something a little different

by northernbaldy

There are lots of things to do in Singapore. The zoo and night zoo are amongst the most widely publicised attractions & rightly so. Botanical Gardens are great. There's also the more traditional beach type attractions on Sentosa Island.A favourite pastime in Singapore is shopping. Head to Orchard Road for the big experience (but not necessarily cheap because of the tourist traffic) and to Funan IT Mall for maintstream electronic goods & Sim Lim Sq for inexpensive electronic goods - be prepared to haggle and make sure that all of the accessories are in the box.If you fancy trying out something different, try dragon boat racing on your stopover, wander down to Kallang Water Sports Centre on Stadium Road (right across the river from the centre of town) for 3:45pm on Saturday afternoons and ask for either the British or American teams. Beginners are welcome, there are a few drinks afterwards...

Fountain of Wealth @ Suntec City

by yipsufen

Built at a cost of SGD 6 million, the Fountain of Wealth stands majestically in the centre of Suntec City. It is well-supported by four 13.8m high bronze legs over an area of 1683.07m with a huge bronze ring measuring 21m in diameter. The perfect circle of the foutain symbolises unending completeness and unity. Hence it has become a powerful Feng Shui icon. It is also the civic core of Suntec City, around which is the five Office Towers and Suntec City Mall are placed.In 1998, the Fountain of Wealth entered the Guinness Book of Records as the World's Largest Fountain. Since then, this magnificent bronze sculpture has become Singapore's icon and popular landmark.According to well-known Feng Shui masters or geomancers, Suntec City is well positioned for fortune and success. The Fountain of Wealth radiates with strong positive energy caused by the presence of powerful negative ions....

Merlion Park

by yipsufen

Instantly, identifiable with Singapore, this water-spouting, half-lion half-fish Merlion brings to mind the legendary lion spotted by a Malayan prince. Relocated here from the other side of Esplanade Bridge above you, it now looks out to sea.At this spot, you have a great photo opportunity: Capture the majestically ornamental Fullerton Hotel against a backdrop of gleaming ultra-modern skyscrapers. Or put your creative photographic skills to good use and capture your own unique perspective of the Merlion.The Merlion is overlooking The Esplanade. There's one large and one mini Merlion at the park. This is the symbollic icon of Singapore. Thus, don't forget to snap your photos here ! If you like to buy some souvenirs of the Merlion, walk underneath across the bridge and there's a large and air-conditioned souvenir shop. You can get everything imaginable with Merlion, like T-shirts, fridge...
