  • Tip Rating:
  • By air is the best way to get there if you're coming from afar. Another thing to do would be to take the Thailand Express from Bangkok. That would give you a chance to see a lot of the Thai and Malay countryside.
A cab, they're cheap and have got good A/C. You could take the MRT/MTR also which would be even cheaper and of course the bus.

  • Tip Rating:
  • BUS. I always like to take bus, cheap and comfortable way for sight seeing around the city. Singapore have very good bus system, only one trouble is that most bus station in non-tourist area do not have route information posted up, so, I have to stop every bus passed by and asked the bus driver whether it will stop at my target location.

  • Tip Rating:
  • TAXI. Always a problem with taxi in Singapore. Either with experience that the driver dunno the route even in popular area such as China Town and Holland Village, or they refuse to take you after asking where I wanna go even you are waiting in taxi stand. The most popular experience is you can't even hop on a taxi without paying extra 'cab calling fee'. I was thinking to put this under 'tourist trap' but since this is a neccessary transportation during your travel so I put it here.

    SMRT = Singapore Mass Rapid...
  • Tip Rating:
  • SMRT = Singapore Mass Rapid Transit:

SMRT started out as a provider of the mass rapid transit passenger service in Singapore. SMRT Corp owns 100% of Singapore MRT Ltd, the operator of the MRT system in Singapore.

How to go abt: Single trip station-to-station fares are displayed above the ticket vending machines. For stored value tickets (TransitLink Farecard, TransitLink GIRO Farecard, Park & Ride Ticket, Corporate Advertiser MRT Ticket, Festive MRT Ticket, Special Edition MRT Ticket, Tourist MRT Ticket and Thematic Series Ticket) the correct fare, which is lower than single trip fares, will be deducted automatically at the exit gate.

    Price/charges: Single Trip
For a ride to one destination, you could purchase a Single Trip ticket. Sold at Ticket Vending Machines in stations. Valid only on day of purchase. Fares range from $0.80 to $1.80. Valid for use on the MRT & LRT only.

    New services: SMRT NightBus Services
Nightshift workers, pub-crawlers, midnight moviegoers or those on a late night out no longer need to fret about missing the last bus.

Starting 1st July 2000, SMRT will run a NightBus Service as part of its extended network that will ply the main downtown areas including Orchard Road, Clarke Quay and Boat Quay before heading along MRT route, serving major housing estates on the way, and ending at Marsiling station (SN20) in the north, Pasir Ris station (SN10) in the east and Boon Lay station (SN30) in the west. It will run right up till the early hours of the morning.

The NightBus Services will run nightly, 7 nights a week. On weekdays, 9 air-conditioned buses will operate from 12.30 am to 3.30 am, arriving at 30 to 60-minute intervals. On weekends and public holidays, 11 air-conditioned buses will operate from 12.30 am to 4 p.m. at 30-minute intervals.

Our comments:Quite a pleasant experience...fast, value-for-money, clean, safe, efficient sort of transport.

Perhaps the BEST way to get to...
  • Tip Rating:
  • Perhaps the BEST way to get to S'pore is to travel via the SINGAPORE AIRLINES.....since it is pOsh, sAfe, wEll facilitated, well-known........with the pretty gals.......
DeSpite aLL of u knOw that S'pore is small......u still need transportation to bring u around.......wE hAve sOme really gd suggestions.....

In an unprecedented move, Trans-Island Bus Services Ltd (Tibs) introduced a special night service, termed the NightRider, NR 1 on Friday, 10 March 2000 to provide another transport option for those who stay out late and who otherwise would only have the taxi as their mode of transport if they do not own a car or do not wish to driveNightRider

Services are targeted for the “revellers” such as cinema and pub goers, and those who bowl or hung around town till the wee hours of the morning.

TIBS NightRider Services covers night activity areas such as Bugis Junction, Holland Village, Geylang and East Coast Recreation Centre. These are in addition to the other nightspots along Marina Centre, Boat Quay, Clarke Quay, Mohd Sultan Road.

With an island-wide network of night services, Tibs has decided to extend the hours of operation of the NightRider services to 4.30 am (last departure time), with some last buses reaching the interchanges at about 5.50 am. The extension in hours of operation for NightRider services is to coincide with the start of the basic bus services. This will provide even better connectivity to Tibs' customers.

Our comments: I have tried taking it......the feeling is juz normal--how i take a bus.....juz that the time is 3.25am in the morning.......'n' the other travellers r a little lifeless.......

The best way to travel to and...
  • Tip Rating:
  • The best way to travel to and from Singapore is by air on our Singapore Airline(SIA). Enjoy your trip on a flight with beautiful SIA girls, serving excellent customer service.
We have different forms of public transport such as the Mass Rapid Transit(MRT), Light Rail Transit (LRT), bus and taxi services. As the LRT system is still in the growth stage, they are only found in certain parts of Singapore like Bukit Panjang for the time being. As for taxi services, the meter fare for the first 1 km or less is S$2.40.
