KTM Trains in Singapore (Important!)

by canttaketheskyfromme

Note that all KTM train services to/from Singapore now run from the Woodlands checkpoint on the northern tip of Singapore island. The old station at Tj. Pagar is now closed. I strongly recommend getting any train to/from Singapore to go to Johor Bahru instead and pick up the train from JB Sentral station. At present, all train services to/from Singapore remain in operation, but due to the KTM West Coast Line upgrading programme, check the website regularly (www.ktmb.com.my) Woodlands checkpoint is NOT connected to Woodlands MRT. To get to Woodlands checkpoint, take the MRT to Kranji (North-South Line, coloured RED on the MRT map) and take bus #170 or 170X to the checkpoint. Both buses continue on to JB Sentral as well. For more information on bus services to Woodlands check with TransitLink (www.transitlink.com.sg), and select "Travel Information" > "Bus Stop Code Enquiry". The bus...

by jackph

Singapore has a great train system that has stops all over the place. To take advantage of this, and so that you do not have to line up each and every time you take a trip, you should invest in a EZLink Train Card that has prepaid load in it.

Changi Airport: Singapore Airlines

by cal6060

Singapore is an small country and can get around the country by the MRT. It means there is no other airport than Changi Airport. Changi Airport has three terminals and a budget terminal. It was a challenge for Singapore Airlines as an Airlines that only can serve International Flights. Due to its consistency advertising campaigns to promote the Airlines internationally, it is recognized as one of the most profitable, and successful Airlines in the the World. " Singapore Girls" dress in Sarong Kebaya in batik materials always as unique way to represent Singapore to the World. Changi Airport, Singapore Airlines, and Singapore Tourism Board are working hand-in-hand to promote Singapore and attract passengers to visit or transit in Singapore. Changi Airport: Provide the most comfortable Airport to gather all guests. Services including duty free shopping, cheap baggage services, baby care...

Bus between Singapore and Johor Baharu

by cal6060

Currently, there are several bus operators to run between Singapore to Johor Baharu route. There are SBS 170, Singapore-Johore Express, and Causeway Link. There have their own bus stands on Queen Street Bus Terminal Singapore, Woodland Check-point, Johor Check-point, and Larkin Station. In Queen Street Bus Terminal:The nearest MRT is at Bugis. You can take any of the above buses in this bus terminal. You pay S$2.40 in the bus for Causeway Link, and to the money collector at the bus stand for Singapore-Johore Express. SBS 170 is function like any buses in Singapore, you are allowed to use E-link Card, or cash. In Woodland Check-point:You have to leave the bus with your belonging, then walk through a huge air-conditional immigration check-points with your passport. After immigration, you walk out the hall, and look for the bus-stop according to the bus that you wish to take. YOU MUST KEEP...

MRT - fast, efficient rail system

by colin_bramso

the MRT rail system is probably the best way to travel around Singapore. It's easy to use, the maps are clear, signage is excellent, fares are amazingly inexpensive. The carriages and stations are spotlessly clean, the whole system is air-conditioned, the trains run frequently so there's never long to wait. You can buy a pre-paid plastic card, the fare being deducted automatically as you go through the barrier. The machine also tells you the balance remaining on the card and you can top it up at a machine in the stations.Alternatively, buy a plastic card for each journey from the machines. The fare is shown on the route map, you add S$1 deposit which you claim back from a machine when the card has been used. It's all very simple and very efficient.

Inexpensive, convenient taxis

by colin_bramso

An easy and convenient way of getting around Singapore is by taxi. The MRT is excellent but doesn't go to every part of the island. Bus system is also extensive and good, but is naturally slower than a taxi. The taxis are clean, air-conditioned, metered and the drivers generally have a very good knowledge of the routes. In the city centre you can't hail them from the street, you need to go to a taxi rank, of which there are plenty. The shopping malls, the hotels have them and others are located in convenient places.Outside the central area you can flag them down in the street. From the airport to Orchard Road, expect to pay a fare of about S$20

Buses In/Out of Singapore: Golden Mile Complex

by cal6060

Golden Mile Complex is a place where you can get buses to Malaysia and Thailand. In addition, you can find the tour agencies offer Malaysia and International tour packages. All the tour packages are quoted in Singapore Dollars. There are several money exchange counters in the complex. This complex is a gathering place for the Thais working in Singapore. Inside the complex, you can find Thailand Supermarket, restaurants, CD shops, and etc. If I am lazy to go to Johor to get a bus, I usually come here to get a bus to my Malaysia destination directly. Buses here are usually going out trough the second link, not the Woodland causeway. Nearest MRT: Nicoll Highway, Circle LineBus: 100

ezlink Card

by cal6060

If you travel more than 1 days in Singapore, or you might not use the public transportation everyday. You can consider buying ezlink Card. It is a great card to travel everywhere in Singapore, cause you just need to tap in and out to use the MRT and buses. Once you are out of value in the card, you can top-up in any MRT stations.

MRT Tourist Day Pass S$8

by cal6060

I recommend to take the MRT from the Airport to City Central or other part of Singapore. It will only cost you around S$3 one way to get to the City. Or you can purchaser a tourist day pass S$8 to travel bus and MRT in the whole Singapore, this include your MRT fare to and from the Airport.
