General info about transportation in Singapore

by battra

Singapore has one of the most efficient public transport system in the world. Public transports within Singapore consist of MRT (subway/metro), LRT (at some residential area), bus, and taxi. Trains are use only for outbound journey to Malaysia. MRT and bus fare is very cheap, ranging from S$0.90 to S$1.90, while taxi can cost you around S$25 from airport to city centre.Bus and MRT operate from early in the morning around 6:00 am until around midnight while taxis are available 24 hour. Taxi can be booked in advance with additional charge of S$2.50 - S$3.20.

how to get a taxi in singapore

by morochaargentina

TAXIS TIP: * If you want to book a taxi in advanced, you have to pay! It depends at what time of the day, and how long in advanced you book your trip... * You can NOT get a taxi in a street where there are double yellow lines (wich means... you can not get a taxi in most of the streets!)* There are taxi stops (we recomend them!)* you can pay with your credit card, but NOT in all the taxis!* you will pay different fees for different times of the day (rush hour is more expensive, late aat night is more expensive, etc etc etc)* and finallly and most important: not all the taxis charge the same so ask before you get it!

Operating between 6am to 2am, the Airport Shuttle takes you to any hotels in and around the city (except hotels on Sentosa Island & Changi Village). You can catch it from the Arrival Hall's Shuttle counter in both Terminal 1 and 2 of the Changi International Airport. The shuttle costs SGD7 for adults and SGD5 for children.

MRT

by Pneuma

Getting around in singapore is easy. But I would say the best way to travel is the MRT. While buyin a standard ticket ie one way ticket to some place you will be charged a deposit of about a dollar per ticket.Which is refundable at the time you surrender your ticket.Tickets are to be bought by a machine. The procedure is very simple. Its a touch screen machine n extremely easy to use.If your staying for a longer time please ask the ticket office as they have smart cards for longer periods which works out more economical.THe MRT is luckily linked to most places of interests. And every station there are sign boards with information on how to get to the place of interest that is closet to that MRT

MRT

by cwhit21

Best thing about the MRT is the air con. I used it mostly rather than taxis. But it didnt replace my two feet. I bought a ez link card and still have it about $7 sing on it. Hopefully itll still be good next time I go back. The MRT takes you to all the major places you want to see, or at least gets you close.

by Travel2write

Everything around Singapore is accessible by the MRT and bus system. If not, cabs are cheap also. Getting a ticket is rather easy. Just go and read the steps at the ticket machines or go to an information both for help. Easy and simple!
