Taxi Services

by Tina-Perth

Taxis are very cheap in Singapore, so I wouldn't be concerned about hiring a car. Unless you're on a strict budget, you will not need to take public transport either. The only problem we encountered at night a few times was finding a taxi.

Cable Car to Santosa Is.

by fishandchips

The Cable Car runs from Mt Fabor to Sentosa Is with an optional stop at the World Trade Centre and costs approx $5SD. You get great views of the harbour and the masses of ships (I think this is supposed to be the busiest port in the world)

MRT Service

by fishandchips

This is an easy way to got around Singapore. Not a large number of stations in the middle but enough so that if your feet get too tired you can get home quickly. The MRT is split into a couple of main north-south and east-west lines. The lines intersect at City Hall and Raffles Place if you need to swap lines.

systematic public trains

by malakingtete

for me it is best to go around singapore by train. very systematic and very easy to learn. taxis are very impractical. aside from the fact that trains are cheaper, it is very hard to get a taxi in rush hours! unless you'll be calling the taxi company ($5 flag down instead of $2), in our experience, we waited almost an hour to get a taxi in a designated terminal in suntech. waste of time!!!

Cable Car to Sentosa

by idy

Cable car ride to/from SentosaDon't miss the cable car ride to or from Sentosa. There are 2 points from which one can board the cable car to Sentosa - at the top of Mount Faber, or from the World Trade Centre Harbourfront. The ride starting from the top of Mount Faber will be longer (and more costly), but there is no public transport to get up the hill. Those feeling flush can consider opting for a glass bottomed cable car, so you enjoy the view both through the windows and your feet. The cable car company also offers a "Sky Dining" experience, which involves eating a full-course Western dinner in a moving cable car.

MRT - very convenient

by traveldream

The Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system in Singapore is very convenient. It can take you almost everywhere. There are 4 lines and several interchange stations. If you plan to stay long and do a lot of train and/or bus ride, I recommend you to buy an ez link card. It is a pre-paid card for MRT and bus systems. It is very convenient, it saves you time to dig your wallet for small changes and buy single-trip tickets at the Ticket Vending Machine. You can buy an ez-link card in MRT stations.

The singapore train

by leanne_pearc

All stations are under ground and trains run very frequently. We purchased a card and put money onto it and used it the whole time we were in singapore, saved us time as we did not have to purchase tickets.

Singapore - Johore Express

by vincentf

This is the direct route towards the adjacent city of Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Located in the Queen Street Bus Terminal (alight at Bugis MRT station). The cost is S$2.40 towards Johor Bahru. However, it costs RM2.4 on the way back to Singapore!

USEFUL ONLINE TOUR AGENCY

by xuessium

Good site belonging to MISA Travels, to try to get a feel of getting onwards bound tickets from Singapore without actually going to a tour agent yourself. The agency does charge a little bit extra for their services but the majority of the time, the deals offered are quite genuine. Its located in Chinatown and has no other branches.
