USEFUL ONLINE TOUR AGENCY

by xuessium

Good site belonging to MISA Travels, to try to get a feel of getting onwards bound tickets from Singapore without actually going to a tour agent yourself. The agency does charge a little bit extra for their services but the majority of the time, the deals offered are quite genuine. Its located in Chinatown and has no other branches.

Onward Bound to Pulau Bintan, Indonesia

by xuessium

Some folks hop on to Pulau Bintan from Singapore for a good weekend. A consortium of resorts had leased the northern part of this island from the Indonesia Riau Province government. The shorelines with its much better beaches are littered with a number of 3-5 stars resorts. BRING YOUR PASSPORTS as you are crossing International borders. To get to the island, take the MRT to Tanah Merah MRT, turn right as you get down the escalator to reach the bus stop for Bus 35 which will bring you to Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. (20 minutes journey) You can buy tickets here (S$45 pax) or you can go through a tour agency earlier. Some nationalities will need VISAs to enter Indonesia, while some nationalities can pay an on-the-spot VISA for US$20.

You, also, can get around Singapore easily on many of the comfortable air-conditioned buses that ply all over Singapore. They are cheap and economical. However, you may wish to buy/apply for an Easi-Link Card. You can also pay cash.

Cover the Whole of Singapore

by walterwu

Getting around Singapore is a breeze. Just hop onto the Subway Train at Changi Airport and it will get you, virtually, to most part of Singapore. At most subway station, there is either a main shopping centre for all, sub-urban shopping centre for residence.Sub-urban shopping centre are ultra-modern and includes fast-food chains McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken and lots more. Food courts are almost a certainity in each shopping centre.Try the subway to appreciate the ease of rides and getting around.

Singapore Airlines

by theguy

Singapore is home to the best airline worldwide, Singapore Airlines, commonly referred to by the locals by its international code, SQ. And guys: these huge metal birds up there in the Singaporean clouds are no aircrafts, these are flying catwalks ! Don't miss out on the cute SQ flight attendants, fly SQ.

MRT

by Marco88

If you want to move around in Singapore there is only one good alternative: The MRT!It's easy, cheap, clean and gets you around everywhere. You can buy a rechargable card and tap it when entering the MRT. If you get off the correct amount will be deducted from the saldo on your card. If I am not mistaken the most expensive trip (around the whole island) will cost you SD 1,80. And the card can be used on the bus as well.

From Singapore to Pulau Ubin

by bpacker

It cost just $2 to travel from Singapore to Pulau Ubin, a little green haven off the east coast of the island. No passports needed too. Just drive to Changi Village, head for the jetty and hop unto a bumboat. There are no fixed times for departure. The boatmen will start his engine only when there are enough passengers to fill the small boat. Other than ensuring that you have small change to pay the boatman, carry a bag in case you start puking on the ride. These speed devils love riding the waves and going at breakneck speed.

Travelling from SIN to KL in cheap luxury

by bpacker

The best and cheapest way to travel to KL these days is on these luxury buses. Why? They're comfortable, relatively faster than the ramshackle trains ( and all the stupid incovenience of a double check-point entry ) and cheaper than taking a plane.I've been on these buses before when I was travelling from Finland to the tip of Sweden. Yes, if you must know, I'm talking about the bus that nearly hit a moose. But that's another story....as I was saying, the buses over here are state of the art things that have massage chairs, power-points for your lap tops, videos, etc, etc. Sigh, creature comforts for us dependent humans.. All this sounds better than travelling on a budget airline doesn't it?Well, if this interests you, click on the website below to book your tickets online and catch the super bus at the poshy Copthorne Hotel(add in website) in town.CostAdult (S$ 47.00) Child (S$ 23.50)

Walk to Singapore from JB

by velumagan

Yes, you can do that. The causeway is only 3/4mile long and there are walkways on both sides. If you come from JB, beware though, of illegal 'taxis' offering to take you from the JB customs to your destination in Singapore. The price is quoted in Malaysian Ringgit but when you get into the car, the driver would quote the same price but in Singapore Dollars. Its a real rip-off because 1SGD=RM2.20 (approx).Just ignore these guys and carry on walking. Once you are at Woodlands CIQ, get clearance and boom! u r in singapore. it doesn't take long to catch a taxi or bus..... for much less.
