To get to Singapore? By Plane. It is so convenient. To get around Singapore? By MRT, Bus, Taxi. To be assured that this is a safe city, and the public transport is convenient. Everything is structured, this is a English speaking country, one should not have any problem in getting help from people around. One may use Chinese also.

Great geographical location

by sakurita

For its great geographical location Singapore has a wide variety of transportation to/from abroad.air: most flyghts to/from Northeast Asia made connections here, so it is a good idea to make a stop over for free and enjoy what the island offers.train: the conection between Singapore and Malaysia with the Malay rail way is a good option to explore the Malay peninsula.boat: Ferry connections between Singapore and Indonesia(Bintan island) are not expensive and it only takes 45 minutes to get there.

We flew with Singapore Airlines...

by rozehill

We flew Singapore Airlines almost everytime we have been to Singapore, they offer a brilliant service as do Air New Zealand and Lufthanza Airlines. Singapore Airport (Changi) is, in my opinion, the most well organized International Airport in the world from what I have seen, certainly far superior to De Gaulle in Paris hehehe!!.

By plane

by Sharrie

By plane is the most common way, although there are many who drive from Malaysia. Alternatively, if you come from Indonesia, it can be by ferry from Batam Island. Of course, the Singaporeans will highly recommend flying in by their world renowned SINGAPORE AIRLINE!Mostly by bus or MRT (Mass Rapid transit, ie. the subway). Forget about renting a car as the hassle of parking (& is never free: at least US$2-US$3 per hour) & the cost is just not worth it. Take the cab if you have to, they are convenient & cheap. A trip within the city area should not cost more than US$7.

Getting from Singapore to Johore Bharu

by jenniferchin

(1) Go to Queen's Street (2) Take the Express Singapore-Johore Bharu coach (I think its rather frequent, not sure *how* frequent, but I did not have to wait long when I got there) for SG2.40 one-way (3) After crossing the Singapore Immigration, get down on the other side and wait for the same coach in the designated queue. If your coach had already left, DON'T WORRY !! There will be another coach behind - just make sure you retain the ticket stubb. (4) After passing through the Malaysian Immigration at Johore Bharu, look for the same coach. Again, if your coach has left. wait for the next coach. (5) The coach will take you to Larkin Bus Station, which is located a little after Johor Bharu town. Don't be alarmed - its at the last stop. (6) Once you get to Larkin, there are loads of busses going to all over Malaysia.

Cable Car

by sunnywong

A trip to Singapore really isn't complete without a ride on board the cable cars. Spanning over 1.6 kilometer, the cableway was the first to be built in South East Asia and is still the first and only cableway that crosses a harbour. There are three stations from which you may begin your journey - they are at Mount Faber, Cable Car Towers and Sentosa.

Rickshaw in Singapore

by sunnywong

An interesting way to tour the streets of Singapore is to take a trishaw ride. Please avoid hailing a trishaw off the road. If you do, make sure that you agree on the fare to your destination before the trip commences. However, there are many trishaw tours that you can join that are run by some of the major tour operators.

Singapore Mass Rapid Transit (SMRT)

by sunnywong

The Singapore Mass Rapid Transit (SMRT) is a modern, air-conditioned passenger train service with stations all over the city. There are two main lines - one from Marina Bay to Jurong East via Woodlands and the other from Pasir Ris to Boon Lay. You can obtain a copy of A Quick Guide to MRT Travel from the Station Control Rooms in all MRT sations.

Alternative KL - SIngapore route

by jenniferchin

This tip is applicable if you are taking a Malaysian Airlines (MH) flight from Senai, Johor to Kuala Lumpur. You can take a coach (SG16 one-way) from the Malaysian Airlines City Terminal over in Singapore, located at the Copthorne Orchid Hotel. The coach will take you from Copthorne Orchid Hotel to the Senai airport. You are also checked-in to your MH flight in the City terminal - very convenient. The journey is about 2 hours. The flight from Senai airport to KL is about 45 minutes (about RM140 one-way). So, the total cost for that journey will be less than RM200. A direct flight from Singapore to KL is about RM300.
