Changi Airports best kept secret

by stevemt

If you are transiting through Changi Airport, there is a feature there that is not generally known about. There is a swimming pool on the roof of terminal 1. for $13.90sin you can go have a swim in transit, or while waiting for a plane. The cost includes a towel, free non alcoholic drink, a lockable locker and shower facilities. (shampoo and bath gel provided free.)There is a bar there as well where the prices are approx 1/2 that of the bar prices within the airport.Part of the pool is landscaped as a tropical garden. You pay at the transit hotel right opposite.Hours are 7:00am to 11:00pm daily. So if you are transiting Changi, ot airside for a period, have your bathers in you carry on luggage, you will be glad.

Changi Airport

by Arfah

It's a big, pleasant and well organized airport. There are 3 terminals (T1, T2 and T3). I believe there's also another terminal specially for the low cost airlines.Traveling from one terminal to another is not a problem. You can just hop into the skytrain which is very dedicated. To get to the city from the airport was easy too. I took the MRT which only cost me $1.90 to Bugis Station. However, if you're taking MRT from the airport...you have to change trains at Tanah Merah Station to a city bound train. Train ride was about 30 minutes. Most of the time the train went underground...so, nothing much to see but there were also times when it went on the outside rail...you'll get to see the view of some Singapore residential areas up to the city centre.

Good way to move around

by Arfah

Can't remember the prices coz I purchased a 1 day Singapore Tourist Pass that cost me $18 and $10 was refunded when I returned the pass, so, that's like $8 for transportation around Singapore. I took more than 20 train trips...so I guess that's really worth it. Singapore got a very good public transport system (especially the MRT n LRT). I guess coming from a country which has quite a good train system made my train trips quite easy as well. It only took me a few trips to get used to the 3 colours train line (purple: north east line, red: north south line n green: east west line).

Air Asia - Now everyone can fly

by Arfah

Return air fare to Singapore only cost me not more than RM200. Flights from Kuala Lumpur Lower Cost Terminat (LCCT) was not more than 1 hour. The air fare doesn't include meals...if you feel like eating on the short flight...you can pre-order on Air Asia website or just pay cash onboard.Must I warn you that for Air Asia flights...they only allow you to bring 1 hand carry on the cabin and other luggage must be checked in (please note that you have to pay for the luggage: RM15 - 5kg, RM20 - 20 kg, RM105 - 25 kg and RM155 - 30 kg). From my experience, it's best to pay in advance when you're doing the online booking...somehow it's much cheaper.

How To Get To Jurong Bird Park

by Mikebb

Take the MRT train to Boon Lay station and then transfer to SBS (Bus) #194 or #251 at the Boon Lay Bus Interchange which is directly opposite the train station.A very easy trip as transport connections are co-ordinated. The bus section takes less than 10 minutes.

Singapore to Kuala Lumpur By Train

by joeco9

Singapore Our last visit to Singapore was in 1987 now 21 years later we had a 3 day stopover in Singapore and 3 days in Kuala Lumpur on our way back home from 7 weeks in Europe . Much had changed in since our last visit. We had a great adventure into the foods of Asia at the beautiful Clarke Quays, lots of shopping at the night markets and at Little India at Mostafa department store . Which is open 24 hours a day On our last day we hopped on a bus to Johor Bahru as the advice we had was that it was much cheaper to get the train in JH , our idea was to leave well ahead of our train departing time to leave our luggage at the station and do some shopping in Johor Bahru well things don't work out as we planned there was no left luggage at the station and on our arriving a huge storm broke out and we were stuck at Johor Barhru railway station for about 5 hours ,this station has no...

Airport Shuttle Service

by Mikebb

Our flight arrived at Changi airport just after 5:30 in the morning. Within a half hour we had collected our luggage and were quickly through customs. We did not want to worry about transport on the MRT with suitcases and no knowledge of the MRT network so we decided to take the Airport Shuttle. You will see signs to the Shuttle Booking booth as you leave Customs. Within 15 minutes the shuttle bus arrived and a fast drive along the coast road had us at our Clarke Quay hotel within 40 minutes. We managed a glimpse of Chinatown as several hotel drops were made prior to arriving at our hotel.Woodlands Transport Services at Terminal 1 operate the Airport Shuttle Service. Charges were Sg $9 per adult.Taxi fares at that time of day are approximately the same price. Taxis have various rates throughout the day, I guess it brings to account the traffic congestion.

EZ Link card - Train & Bus Prepaid Pass

by Mikebb

These prepaid transport cards are very useful when using public transport in Singapore. Purchase your card at any MRT station from the ticket booth and then top it up from one of the machines at all stations. This pass saves more time than money and is essential when using public transport.
