I found the MRT to be very efficient and quick..best way is to buy the scan card for and re charge as necessary..
The price can be from 80 cents to $S1.80. Don't forget to get $1 back when you reach the destination. There's a visitors card which you can buy for $S45, you can use the subway and buses.
Take a river taxi ride at Clarke Quay or Boat Quay and enjoy! Prices from SGD10 (adult) and 50% discount for kids.

When visiting the famous island of Sentosa, you should go up to Mount Faber and try to take the cable car across to Sentosa. You get a nice view of the harbour area, sea and southern Singapore.
Cable car is how most people reach Sentosa Island. However, I took the taxi into Sentosa Island and then grabbed a ferry back out to World Trade Centre.
The Northeast Line is open for use. More convenient to get to new housing estates like Sengkang in the eastern side of Singapore.
