Jikso waterfall (AKA Jikso pokpo) is located just out of Buan in the Jeollabukdo province. There are actually several ways to get there, but all involve hiking. I took the short path, but I couldn't tell you how to get there since I wasn't driving and we got lost a couple times.

The next best path leaves from Naeso-sa, a temple about 40 minutes from Buan by bus. The bonus with this route is that you get to see a popular temple before taking the hour long hike to the waterfall.

Along the way you'll pass a resevoir that has some pretty scenic views. Also, some of the trail requires pulling yourself up with ropes over some rocks, but for the most part it's not an overly strenuous hike.

Beautiful Dam Picture!

OK...so who wants to go visit a dam right? Well if you're in Buan that might be all there is to see. Actually I can't speak from experience about that as I've never spent much time in the town. But passing through we stopped at the park at Buan dam.

In the lower section of the park, just below the spillway oddly enough, is a fountain and man-made stream that snakes it's way across the grounds. On a hot summer day you can find people of all ages splashing and swimming to their hearts content.

Up above, after climbing to the top of the dam, is a tourist center with info on the construction of the dam and the local area. You can see this in the bottom of the picture. I was just happy that it was air-conditioned.

From there you can climb the stairs to the top of the hill and get a great view of the damn and resevoir, as well as some of the mountains that Korea has so many of.
