The best B.B.Q in the world is in South-Korea

by yatingchen

Before baking, pork slices are dept in special sauce (pear juice etc). They taste already great with rice. Korean people eat B.B.Q port slices wrapped in sesame leaves and together with favorite garlic or Kim-Chi or small fishes etc. You will feel never guilty full, oily or disgusting. Vegetable fade the fat away. Top recommended.

National Food DIY- Kim-Jin

by yatingchen

How to make Kim-Chi? Fresh Cabbages mop with salt, especially near the root more. Lay a while, wash by water, do not dry it by hands, just lay it down. Wiping with special sauce leaf by leaf from up to down, at the root more. The special sauce is made of red-hot-pepper skin, spring-onlion, garlic, fish sauce, shrimp sauce, redish, rice water etc. Please see my Kim-Chi!!

Climate in Korea

by bryankang

We think July and August is rainy season, it means you can have heavy showers for 2~3days period. But I don't think it will spoil your iteneraty unless you would climb Mountains. Also ferry schedule may be apt to rainshwer. But you don't need to care for rain shower in general.I think climate is more worm enough to notice compared to my childhood times.

Finding your Way Around Seoul

by wheelstrong

In Seoul, it's difficult to find addresses. A few reasons are behind Seoul's confusing landscape. 1. The first reason is that there are millions of forks in the roads where you'll often have a choice among five avenues, alleyways and roads. 2. Addresses for buildings and houses are numbered according to when they were built. So, a house that's number three can be a house that's number 1111. 3. The locals often don't know the places you're looking for and it's not because there is a lack of communication but because of the reasons above. You have to use landmarks and subway stops to get around Seoul.

Block Carving Collection of Buddha's Sayings

by hindu1936

Hein Sa or Hein Temple, is a World Heritage site. The central focus of the temple is a building housing aprx. 84,000 carved wooden blocks of Buddha's sayings. They date back about 900 years. The easiest way to get there if you have your own transport is to leave the expressway about 20 miles south of Seoul and turn east on highway 42 at the Singil exit. Continue east until you see the exit for highway #3--exit right (south). Follow it down until you see the signs for Heinsa. This allows you to miss most of the hectic travel. Although the coast route looks attractive don't do it. It is very slow and dangerous just to get there. Stick to #3. At the temple there are souvenir shops where for a few dollars you can buy a rubbing of one of the blocks, a place where you can buy a tile for the roof and have your name painted on it.

Best time of year to visit

by DSwede

I would recommend late September and early October. The weather in the summer can be very hot and humid. The winter can be very cold (particularly farther north).September and October are comfortable with the weather and the mountains will have their trees changing colors.Secondly I'd recommend late April / early May. At that time the weather is also in a transitionary comfortable period. It is the time that most of the Cherry Blossoms are in bloom. Many festivals around that time. One of the most famous is in Jinhae (often spelt Chinhae). The link shows temperatures in Seoul. http://www.studentsoftheworld.info/pageinfo_pays.php3?Pays=KOR&Opt=climatethe south side of Korea (near Busan) may be 5~10 degrees C warmer.

When to visit Korea?

by cmarsek

I would also second the end of September/early October OR suggest May. But for May, aim for the Lotus Lantern celebration in Seoul, usually the weekend before Buddha's birthday I believe. In Sept/Oct, aim for the Seoul International Drum Festival. These are both two events I really enjoy! When aiming for April/early May...you should be wary of the Yellow Sand season (sand in the air from China). Good luck!
