Its a part or the korean practice to pray and Build stone. One prayer one stone. Some time they write their prayer on paper and hang on the tree brances I make my prayer too.May God Continue to bless the Gangneung City and the Whole Korea.

All Gangneung Performers stay here. This University is very Comfortable school. When we stay here, Breakfass at Canteen, free Fitness gym, free enternet, free washing mashine and everyting is very Clean. Those who want to study here,Its comfortable for you But I dont know how much.

When I\'m coming home late or up early and heading to work there is one place that I like to go to get a snack/meal. Seven-eleven. Yes, it sounds weird, but 7-11 has some great \'sam-gak-kim-bap\' (Three angle seaweed and rice...Triangle Kimbap). It is fresh (they deliver daily at about 1AM, don\'t ask how I know this), it\'s healthy (usually rice with 1/3 the fat of bread, and includes other good stuff like tuna or beef), easy (just tear off the plastic covering and you\'re good to go) and, most importantly, delicious. I\'ve introduced many foreigners to this and after some initial hesitation (seaweed and what?) everyone is an instant convert. Oh, did I mention they\'re cheap? About 700 won (USD 0.60) apiece compared to 1,500 won for a ham sandwich. I usually get 2 and they are pretty filling.

Was pleasantly surprised to see lotsa mountains when the plane touched down at Incheon Airport. South Korea is surrounded by mountains. The famed Seoraksan National Park would be DE place. A quieter starting point would be from Osaek Mineral Springs however no maps are obtainable from the ranger office there. Entrance fee is 1,600won.A more popular & accessible starting point would be from Seorak-dong. Be there earlier to avoid the crowds. Entrance fee is more expensive at 3,400won. If you can, hike & enjoy the beautiful scenery instead of taking the cable car. The South Koreans really impressed me with their helpfulness, orderliness & their respect towards each other. I was blessed with many kind acts from the kindred S.Koreans that helped to make my first-time solo trip an easier one.

Finding a bathroom in Seoul can be a challenge sometimes. Many of the restaurants (even Western food ones) do not have their own bathrooms--especially if they are located inside a building (which most of them are). Also, from the street it's tough to know where to turn when nature calls.A few tips: (i) all buildings have bathrooms on the main floors that are (generally) open to the public. Just walk in and look for the signs.(ii) Learn how to say "Hwa Jang Shil Oh-di-say-o" (Where is the bathroom?). They may call it a toilet, restroom, washroom, water closet , W.C., or any number of other things, but the Korean phrase is Hwa Jang Shil.(iii) Learn how to squat in the Asian (hole in the floor) type toilet, as you may HAVE to use one at some point. Basically, it's like going in the woods, except you have to aim. A white couple and their friend were in downtown Seoul with what looked like a...

Korea is the Land of the moning calm, or so they say...My greatest recollection from monrings in Korea were the garbage trucks that drove around the neighborhoods at about 5 AM. They were all equipped with 50,000 watt loudspeakers, which would shout (in Korean): "ATTENTION ATTENTION: WAKE UP AND BRING OUT YOUR GARBAGE !!!!" I guess they wanted to be sure that anyone within a few miles radius wasnt left out on this great garbage dumping opportunity.... With that, who needs an alarm clock ??
As we are all more than aware, 2002 heralded the Fifa Football World Cup, Co-hosted by Japan and Korea.I remember before the world Cup started, a lot of Korean Journalists went to some football crazy countries like Brazil, Argentina and Italy and asked locals in the street, "Where is this year's World Cup being Hosted?" Virtually everybody replied "Japan!"Much to the disappointment of the Korean public who were hoping that the World cup would Showcase south Korea.Anyway, after the world Cup had finished the Journalists asked the same question to the same football crazy people, from the same football crazy countries. Virtually Everybody replied "Korea!" Why, well Korea did showcase themselves, with amazing spirit, support and sportsmanship. I will never forget being part of the support. The thousands of people in the streets, in the city squares, filling the stadiums in a sea of red. All...

The Korean Language is related to languages of Central Asia and Finland. I found it very difficult to learn. But the script is an alphabetical script, even if it does not look like. It is said, that in 16th century a Korean King gathered some wise men of his country and ordered them to invent a script, which was more suitable to their language than the Chinese Charactres, which were used. The new script also should be very easyly be leearned by everybody. After some time they found the Korean Script, which is in fact easily to learn. I learned it within a few hours. Of course that does not mean, that you understand the language, but being able to read the signs of busstations and some words on the menue in a restaurant helps a lot.

I loved most the many beautiful flowers, which you find in South Korea at every roadside and in every town and every garden. It seems people love their country so much, that they want to decorate every corner of it.
