ICC Jeju

by Carino

The International Convenction Center (ICC) Jeju is truly a masterpiece of Architecture. It looked that nice to us, that we drove there, just to see the building a bit closer. And if you go there, be sure, not to miss the Park and the Coast. Another nice spot on Jeju.

wachting waterfall

by LEEJUHEE

It is one of the main tourist attractions on Jeju-do. It is 22 meters high and 12 meters wide. Though water always falls in one particular area, depending on the amount of recent rain, the water may spread out. At the bottom of the waterfall is an artificial pond that is 20 meters deep. Large volcanic rocks form landbridges that allow tourists to pose for photographs in front of the falls. The waterfall is one of the three famous waterfalls of Jeju, the other two being Cheonjeyeon Waterfall and Jeongbang Waterfall. In order to reach the waterfall, visitors must walk on a landscaped trail. Near the beginning of the path is a traditional Korean raft, symbolizing Korean culture. It is the most popular at night, because the falls are illuminated. The Cheonjiyeon Waterfall is also known for its diverse plant and animal life. Just before reaching the falls on the path, one must cross a bridge...

Seongsan Ilchulbong (Sunrise Peak)

by Bob_Shan

The crater of Sunrise Peak consists of 99 rock peaks along its rim that look as if they are escorting the crater and forming a castle. For that reason, the basin was considered to be holy, and itwas named "Seongsan" which literally means holy mountain. The view of the sunrise here is truly remarkable.

JEJU FOLK VILLAGE

by ancient_traveler

The Jeju Folk Village presents a vivid and lively exhibition for the island's cultural assets. All the building were constructed in consultation with experts and historians to create the original atmosphere. Some cottages are two to three hundred years old and were relocated to this village in its original form without any alternations. Three different habitat types are displayed: coastal, plains, and mountain. Jeju Island has been characterized as the island of Sammu (lacking three aspects: beggars, thieves, and locked gates) and Samda (an abundance of three aspects: wind, rocks, and women). CHEONJIYEON FALLS

by ancient_traveler

A waterfall on Jeju Island, South Korea. Literally, the name Cheonjiyeon means sky (Ch'eon) connected with land (ji). It is one of the main tourist attractions on Jeju-do. It is 22 meters high and 12 meters wide. Though water always falls in one particular area, depending on the amount of recent rain, the water may spread out. JEONGBANG FALLS

by ancient_traveler

One of the 3 most famous waterfalls on Jeju Island, most tourist literature describes it as the only waterfall in Asia to fall directly into the ocean. This is not true as other countries also have waterfalls that do this. In fact, the water from Jeongbang actually falls into a small, sheltered cove, and not directly into the ocean. Waterfall is situated by a high cliff by the sea, and an old evergreen stands there leaning back as if it would fall into the ocean. Still, the 23-meter falls are very picturesque with the cliffs, the sea, and several small islands offshore. It is considered Yeongjusipgeong, one of the ten greatest scenic wonders of Jeju. The waterfall is one of the three famous waterfalls of Jeju, the other two being Cheonjiyeon Waterfall and Cheonjeyeon Waterfall.

YONGDUAM: dragon heard rock

by ancient_traveler

It stands ten meters high and resembles the head of a dragon. As you walk down the stairway, you will find vendors selling sea squirts and sea cucumbers freshly picked from the sea. At the western end of Jeju City, where the Hanch'on stream runs into the ocean, is a large rock formation shaped like a dragon's head. (Depending on the viewing angle, it sometimes looks more like the head of a bunny rabbit). A short trail has been carved out going down the cliffs to give several views of the rock. Several old women sell fresh seafood in the area.

SEOPJIKOJI

by ancient_traveler

Seopjikoji is located at the end of the eastern shore of Jeju-do Island. Green fields without a single tree spreads beyond the cliff and a rock called “seondol” is protruded. Also there are stonewalls along the road to block the wind on the way to the lighthouse at the end of Seopjikoji. Within the stonewalls, you may find the most brilliant rapeseed flower fields every April. Going up the metal steps of the lighthouse, you can view the whole seashore at a glance. Travel Tip about the House of “All In”Jeju was the main location for the TV mini-series “All In.” Of the numerous locations, the house in Seopjikoji was used as the set for the wedding scene. It is a vast hill where you can take a walk against a beautiful background of the ocean view. Midway through the walk, you will find the house of “All In,” which is an intriguing attraction. There is a separate admission fee to visit the...

SEONGSAN ILCHULBONG

by ancient_traveler

Near the eastern town of Songsan-ri, a volcanic crater with vertical cliffs rises up from the shore. As the easternmost tip of Jeju Island, this area is the first to greet each day's new sun, thus earning the name of "Sunrise Peak." A hefty climb brings visitors to the top of the peak. Visitors are prevented from entering the crater by barbed wire, but they can still enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding area. Jagged rocks stick up like teeth along the crater's perimeter. It is definitely worth the view, even if you do not make it in time for the sunrise.
