Dragon Head Rock (Yongdu-am)

by snuggie

This rock was often said to be look like a dragon head but at another angle,it may look more like a rabbit.Legend states that the Dragon King's messanger was sent to Halla Mountain to gather eternal life herbs. The messanger was killed by an arrow from an angry mountain god. Part of the messenger's body sank into the water while the head remained above the water, trying to return to the sky.

back to the ocean

by itsCharlie

Claims to be the only /largest? waterfall in asia that falls into the ocean.... maybe? Again, nice stop. There are lots of waterfalls around to choose from. This one's called Jeongbangpokpo. It's near Seogwipo. The one in the valley in the town is a nice walk too, but you'll have company. I went at night and it was nicer.

Seopji-koji ( Cape )

by jckim

Seopjikoji looks like it is a natural stone exhibition with unusual rock formations. In contrast to other coastal areas on Jeju Island, the hill was formed by red volcanic ash scoria which lends a unique harmony to the landscape. It is the set of the TV series " All In " and grew in fame as the lacation of the movies " Eye at Down " and " Dan-jeok-bi-yeon-su "

Gimnyeong Maze Park

by jckim

The Jeju Gimnyeong Maze is a located in the Manjang Lava-tube and the Gimnyeong Snake cave area. The CK-Maze was established by an American professor at Cheju National University in 1987 based on a design by the world's foremost maze designer, Mr.Adrian Fisher and today, it is the only significant symolic foliage maze in Asia. The major symbols, created by the beautiful hedges of Leylandii trees, are: a snake which symbolizes Jeju's earliest form of animism; a pony's head symbolizing pasturing of the Mongol pony by the Mongols in 1276. The western portion of the maze symbolizes the wrecked 'Sparrowhawk', the ship that brought Hendrik Hamel, the first westerner to introduce Korea and Jeju Island to western readers in the late 17th century; a large, flat stone in the eastern portion symbolizing the Jeju dolmen, associated with the Bronze Age of Jeju. Yakcheonsa

by iwys

Yakcheonsa, in the south of Jeju-do, is the biggest and most impressive temple on the island. But, in spite of its old-style wooden buildings, it was constructed relatively recently, between 1987 and 1997. Neverheless it is a magnificent temple in a beautiful setting, amongst orange groves and gardens, on the southern slope of Hallasan. As you approach it, it is the type of place that makes you say, wow, look at that! Definitely worth a visit.Admission free
